THE athletic department is at fault...........

THE athletic department is at fault........... Post Rating (5 votes)

The "party" time set up for "big donors" before the game and at halftime is STUPID.

Much has been said at the fans who aren't students don't add much to the cheering section. The game is starting and it looks like it was an hour before the game.  Free popcorn and a chance to talk to you friends and miss almost ten minutes of the game.

Halftime is 15 minutes...........EVERYBODY LEAVE AND FIND THAT POPCORN AND YOUR  NEIGHBOR TO TALK AGAIN...  Arrive late, miss at least 5 minute of the second half.
That's the problem.

The ad has to figure out what is most important........My suggestion, at football games and basketball............HAVE THE GET TOGETHER AFTERWARDS EVEN IF YOU MUST LENGTHEN IT.

I must admit that some of the early enthusiasm I had for Mullens is being tested. He is weighting all of his marketing toward the monied donors (which is natural, to a point), while forgetting the other 96% who donate sacrifically to keep this program afloat (whi8ch will bite him on the backside if he doesn't rethink some of their ideas). Between ignoring the womens bassketball, and harebrained entertainment for the biggies, it is beginning to look like Mullens is suffering under a major ddisconnect with the average fans.

I hate to say it, but the product on the court dictates crowd interest.

So you are saying that 21 wins and tied for 1st place isn't good enough?

I hate to sound like a jerk, but why do you even care?  If they have a ticket to the game, they can do whatever the hell they want to with the ticket.  If they want to enjoy free popcorn and a beverage because they have access to do so, so be it.

The product on the court is border line unbearable to even watch right now.  Scoring in the 40' is not an entertaining form of basketball.

Maybe you should take this up with the AD and voice your concern there.  Tell them that they should close down the club sections to both football and basketball and see how far that gets you.

I believe fans haven't gotten to the point of true respect for this team. You go Duke or Kentucky and they revere their teams. A big part of that is because that's all they have to cheer for. The rest of their athletic programs are basically non-existent. It takes a lot to build a fan base for multiple sports within a school.

I like this team but I don't love them. I'd worry about them losing to any team they'd play in the NCAA tourney regardlesss of their ranking. This team doesn't instill confidence yet and therefore, not my true respect. Good but not great.

Crown Royal, you are not a jerk.......... Post Rating (5 votes)

But the students were saying that they were getting little help.  Good athletes want to go to schools that care, that show enthusiasm for their effort....see football.

Living in Portland I had tickets to the Blazersl for 30 years.  Now I feel blessed that I don't have to watch them on tv every game.  Under or near 500 most years is hard to take, still they fill the area. The NBA game is different. All offense, no defense.   I liked the effort last night.  We don't have a scoring point guard.  Not the coaches fault.  Last year's guy screwed up and basically was sent packing.  Artis had a freak accident.    Ordinarily I don't like defense but it is part of the game.  It is keeping us in there.  Loyd has to relax.  EJ has pain that I probably couldn't walk with.

Sports are easy for the fan to judge.  Your favorite team loses.......They should have done this instead of that.  They coaches are stupid.

I have seen the problem in football for many years.  They beg people to get back in their seats for the second half.  First it was announced I think by Don Essig, then not working, Mike Bellotti and finally by Chip Kelly....All I am saying is to have the party to interfere with the game.

Unlike you Crown, I really enjoyed the game and was sorry they lost or course.

I get what you are saying.

I went last night and I longed for the Mac court days. The new place is dead. Why not give away tickets to the students because there were a ton of empty seats. No energy.

So, I promptly went and ate popcorn and drank some beers. When in Rome....

I like the effort of the team, but they feel like a pro team because there are some many one and done guys Kazemi is a very good ball player, but I feel like he came in on free agency and will be gone in a heart beat. No knock on him btw.

Mullens didn't have input on the design of the building, so blaming him for that part is wrong (comment directed to Firstduck). What he does with it now is his problem

You did not see one word from me about Mullerns part in Matt Court. I said his marketing efforts seem directed ast a small core of the donor base, those with the bigger bucks.

Also, it doesn't take "big bucks" people to get into the party....just people who paid to get their season tickets..

My point is that it is a nice gesture but it shouldn't interfere with watching the game..football or basketball.

I do not yearn for Mac Court..............We are FORTUNATE to have Matt...BELIEVE IT>>and be thankful...

Learn to adjust..
