Yes, the knife does cut both ways. As one of the older generation you seem to disrespect, I stand for nearly every minute of every game, I am in my seats an hour before game time, and I stay during halftime. I do NOT arrive so sloshed that I wind up vomiting on my neighbors, or using language that is not fit for younger family consumption. I leave that idiocy to the younger generation who has little or no clue about respect.

TheRunningDuck wrote: Yeah, ignor the fact that an older person sitting behind you can't see through you and perhaps can't get up easily. Yeah, you are in the right.
BUT that knife cuts both ways. The older person needs to realize they are at a Sporting event that involves a lot of emotion. Maybe if they tapped the person on the shoulder and POLITELY asked them to sit because they cant stand etc... it would go over different. BUT a whole lot of the older generation (not all, but a LOT) just rudely yell sit down!! or scowl at the younger crowd and point down etc.. This comes off as rude & bossy. I cant believe the sense of entitlement in the older generation at a game sometimes (Football and Basketball). They feel everybody should just do what they (they being the older generation) want them to do, that attitude is crap. The younger generation needs to realize that one day they are going to be old, and the older generation needs to remember what it was like to be young. Basic rule, "Treat others, as you wish to be treated".
GO Ducks!!! WTD

OC Duck and I had some ole bat in the last 15 Secs of the game tonight tell us to sit down. Now, keep in mind it was the first time the whole night we stood up at all except for to go pee. We were on defense. I told them we were at a basketball game, not an opera. He said that if I was such a great fan I should buy season tickets. I told him we drove all the way from Redmond for the game where did you come from? Anyway... I don't post much on here anymore, but I have been around for a long time so if you are sitting behind me at a football or basketball game and tell me to sit down in the last 15 secs of a tied ball game, be prepared for me to tell you to KMA. 😊

Your ass was in the seat the entire game and then, with 15 seconds left, you decide to stand up in front of an older lady (or, using your splendid vocabulary...bat) and block her view. Gee, aren't you a great fan...

If a fan can't take having their view blocked for a few seconds tough crap...stay home.
And has been said before...the age difference was not but "maybe" a couple years. It's not as though they were 30-40 years apart in age.

Re: Unreal!
mostly agree with you, but there are exceptions. At the 1995 Rose Bowl I was next to the +90 year old grandmother of a Duck player who was not able to jump up when fans were in front of her......we just need to be aware of that type of scenario......When I am that old I will be comforted by the knowledge that my 203x (era) virtual reality reply of the game will probably be like I am one of the refs and/or standing next to the head coach.....technology will not keep me away from going to Autzen or MK but the replay will probably be better than being there in a few years.

Hey don't pick on the Opera (2 votes)
First of all, I sing with the Eugene Opera and we had more people jump to their feet on New Years Eve for Pirates of Penzance than I saw standing up for either the WSU or ASU games last month. Both of those came down to the last minute and I had gray hairs tugging at my shirt because I got up, like everybody should have, at the end! One even dropped her knitting while doing it.
Face it, the side opposite the Pit Crew is abysmal. It's worse than the south club side at Autzen. I know this will bring down a rain of scorn from some of you, but honestly there should be some basic physical skills test when going to a Division I basketball game- the ability to clap, raise one's voice and strategically rise to ones feet!. Issue cert cards, whatever, but some folks need to confront that fact that if they no longer are an asset they're a liability and best watch in a less obvious venue.

LOL, Diane, you are an absolute treasure. I wish you posted more often. It would be fun to see the looks on a couple of faces if some of these clowns ever met you, or OC.

maybe all the fans you don't want at the games will just stay home so you guys can pony up to buy those seats and scream your lungs out at the games?

If you don't want to stand at a Duck game, stay home. Duck games aren't for quiet grumps who want to sit and be silent the whole time.

Sorry, I thought we were talking about a twenty-something versus an octogenarian. I'm bowing out and staying away lol.

Re: Unreal! (5 votes)
I wonder what the DAF contribution difference is between those quiet people you despise so much vs. the kids who have the ability to stand all games long?

Octogenarian - LOL!! Good one!! I will have to use that one on the next wheel-chair bound, blue-haired invilid I stand up in front of for absolutely no good reason. You 15-year olds come up with the best come backs!

Update from Sat (1 vote)
Our crowd against Stanford was great, and played off the energy Johnny and the team brought. Fabulous to see a sellout,

Re: Hey don't pick on the Opera (2 votes)
I agree with you. Our fan base is becoming more and more an opera crowd which is sad. Pricier tkts bring that type of person to a game as well.

Re: Hey don't pick on the Opera (2 votes)
That is one of the most idiotic exaggerations seen here in a long time. It seems nearly every team coming in talks about our crowd, but our own fans are whining about it. The players love the crowd, and the recruits talk about it, even when visiting other schools. Some of you folks have way too much time on your hands.
