OC Duck and I had some ole bat in the last 15 Secs of the game tonight tell us to sit down. Now, keep in mind it was the first time the whole night we stood up at all except for to go pee. We were on defense. I told them we were at a basketball game, not an opera. He said that if I was such a great fan I should buy season tickets. I told him we drove all the way from Redmond for the game where did you come from? Anyway... I don't post much on here anymore, but I have been around for a long time so if you are sitting behind me at a football or basketball game and tell me to sit down in the last 15 secs of a tied ball game, be prepared for me to tell you to KMA. 😊

Good for you not to oblige such a BS request. I probably would have told him to stand up if he was a true fan. I hate it when fans try to use the argument that since they have season tickets and you don't, they are better/more loyal.

Re: Unreal!
I might add that we do have season tickets for Football.
I did tell them that they needed to learn how to be a fan and if they wanted to sit there like they were commatosed that they should stay home. I think we'll buy tix there again and bring along those opera binocular thingys and give them. LOL.

Yeah, ignor the fact that an older person sitting behind you can't see through you and perhaps can't get up easily. Yeah, you are in the right.

The older person needs to realize they are at a Sporting event that involves a lot of emotion. Maybe if they tapped the person on the shoulder and POLITELY asked them to sit because they cant stand etc... it would go over different. BUT a whole lot of the older generation (not all, but a LOT) just rudely yell sit down!! or scowl at the younger crowd and point down etc.. This comes off as rude & bossy. I cant believe the sense of entitlement in the older generation at a game sometimes (Football and Basketball). They feel everybody should just do what they (they being the older generation) want them to do, that attitude is crap. The younger generation needs to realize that one day they are going to be old, and the older generation needs to remember what it was like to be young. Basic rule, "Treat others, as you wish to be treated". GO Ducks!!! WTD Brett

Re: Unreal! (5 votes)
KMA is alot nicer than what I would have said. I probably would have gone with GFY. I pay for the seat, I have the right to stand up. Whoever is behind me has no bearing. If it's too hard for them to get their behind out of the seat while sipping their pinot gris is not my problem. IT'A A BASKETBALL GAME!

If someone is not capable of standing for 15 seconds, they should in handicap seating. No?

Or, watching from the comfort of their own home.
I may be "young", but, if I don't feel like standing up and cheering at a game... I'm typically not gonna go. There's always someone else who'll take a ticket and actually USE it.
I just don't understand the logic of going to a game, if you're not going to actively participate. It's a whole heck of a lot cheaper and easier to watch from your couch, and, unless you have especially good seats, the view is typically better, too.
Now, obviously, I want as many Duck fans to make it out to the games as possible, and would never want to discourage anyone from attending ANY Duck event... but, if you're not going to participate, AT LEAST understand that others are, and that YOU are the outlier, not the person standing and cheering.

Re: Unreal! (1 vote)
Seems real simple to me. Unless these older folks were sitting in wheel chairs, then I would have asked them a question:
"Ma'am, were you able to walk into this arena w/o assistance? This is probably the last play of the game, and I'd suggest you stand as well."

Re: Just playing devils advocate here RunningDuck.... (2 votes)
I am totally flattered that you think I am in the younger generation, But this person was about a year to five years older than I am. My father was disabled before he died. Obviously if they were disabled I would not have stood up Nor would they have been sitting where we were as we had to climb 10 to 15 stairs to get to our seats. After watching him climb to their seats with more ease than I did I seriously doubt standing for 15 seconds in a tied ballgame would've killed them any. So yes I was in the right.
