First the two-tone field, then the alternate uniforms, now the offense. Next thing you know, they'll all want their own version of the Duck.;>)

Not too long ago no other team wanted to be like the Ducks.
Now, you have to work hard to sit with the cool kids.
I hope UT burns to the ground with this change. Well maybe not all the way to the ground cause we don't want Mr. Dolesswithmore to be fired.

Mack Brown: “We’re not going to be the option-type team like Oregon, but we’re going to run their tempo,”
option team....................What a Dumas!

The Ducks are so far inside Mack's head, it's not even funny anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if Texas boosters are paying the NCAA employees out of their own pockets to prolong this never-ending "investigation" (kidding, Texas fools).
I noticed he said "you still want to be physical", as if Oregon is not physical.

Texas can run any offense they want to. Imitation is the highest from of flattery.
A lot of teams have seen the advantages of an up tempo offense and are now using it.

Problem is Mack can't think fast enough to run uptempo.

Up tempo works, Oregon proved it. But there's more to it than practicing fast and running a lot of plays. You better have a good 2 deep on defense or, as we've learned, you're going to give up more points too. It's not like you can institute it in 1 year and you're ready to go. Oregon has been running a version of the spread since Crowton, about 2005. The first couple years weren't always pretty. But it did pave the way for Chip to come in and tune it up. And what Oregon was running in 2007 is a shell of what they are able to do today. Not to mention recruiting players that can be successful in that system. It's taken a while to get recruiting to where guys fit in this system. Good luck with your 335 lb. linemen. LOL!

Re: Texas going up tempo, like Oregon. Oh the irony
Texas has a huge advantage over about 99% of the teams in the US including Oregon.
1. Football crazy state with 25 million people and tons of athletic talent. 2. First choice university of probably 75% of all Texas HS football players. 3. VERY wealthy flagship university of the state. One of the 10 wealthiest universities in the US. 4. Gigantic fan base. 5. There are more, trust me.
Considering their talent, they have been underachievers as of late. K-State cobbered them last fall.
The Ducks would have whipped them at least five times in the last decade, maybe more.
We do more with less. A great, stable coaching staff can make a huge difference and in the Duck's case, it does.

I think what matters to Texas fans and Mack Brown is the last three years:
Texas 23-16
Oregon 36-4

Re: Texas going up tempo, like Oregon. Oh the irony
I have no defense for the last 3 yrs in which we've finished ranked only once. However we finished the prior 2 seasons ranked #3 and #2.
To the poster above: which 5 yrs (you may have even said "at least") out the last 10 would Oregon have destroyed us? The last 3 obviously, but which others?

To the "at least 5 times" over the last decade post:
2003: Texas 2004: Texas 2005: Texas 2006: Texas 2007: Texas 2008: Texas 2009: Texas 2010: Oregon 2011: Oregon 2012: Oregon
Your "at least 5 years" comment is symptomatic of many Duck fans I know (and frankly lots of CFB fans of schools that aren't perennial contenders), when your team isn't towards the top you tend to be less aware of other teams.

Are you trying to say that MB does less with more?
If so, you nailed it bigbad55.
How may Top-5-10 recruiting classes has MB had compared to the Ducks in the last 5 years? I bet he wins there too.
4 consecutive BCS bowls for the Ducks says all you need to know.
Go Ducks!

Re: Texas going up tempo, like Oregon. Oh the irony
I'm saying that over time he's done a great job - the 2nd best coach weve ever had. Texas recruited poorly and played poorly for many years before he arrived.
I'm very unhappy with the last 3 yrs (as all Texas fans are). I'm concerned he's lost his way and wouldn't be sad to see him go. But to ignore the great run we had with him would be foolish.

I went to the 2000 Holiday Bowl in San Diego. The Ducks beat the Horns 35-31. It was a very close. a little "too" exciting game with UT's Chris Simms throwing his last past that fell incomplete in the end zone as time ran out. I had my heart in my mouth.
Nice win for the Ducks. The Longhorn fans were cool too.
We have a d**n good program these days and on any given day, beat anyone including Bama. If A&M can beat Bama, so could the Ducks if they played their best.
We'll be very good in 2013 and I hope losing CCK does not hurt us.
GO DUCKS!
