Re: Miami Notice

If Shalala is accurate, and they did allow Shapiro to corroborate his own testimony, then the NCAA's investigation has lost credibility. Glad to see Shalala fighting back.

QUACK!

Screw the NCAA. Can't trust them for anything. The media was reporting it would be around February to early spring when we would hear more about Oregon so we could be next in line to finally find out. It will be nice to finally get this over with.

NCAA's flawed investigation... Post Rating (3 votes)

Doesn't mean she should be able to wiggle off the hook. What happened at Miami is as bad a scandal as has happened this side of SMU. Happened right under her nose and now she is deflecting blame. She stood there at a function and accepted a check from the guy. I hope they get slammed and the NCAA's investigative arm dissolves.

Screw the NCAA and screw the U.

"That prompted Miami to lash out strongly at the NCAA on Monday, with Shalala saying "the lengthy and already flawed investigation has demonstrated a disappointing pattern of unprofessional and unethical behavior."

Ouch.

"Had I realized I was dealing with, what is in my opinion ... such an incompetent regulatory institution, I would have never allowed Mr. Shapiro to have had any type of contact with the NCAA - period," Perez wrote in a text message to AP."

Double ouch.

Pleeeeze....Donna shalala knew exactly what she was getting into. for her to somehow attempt to say the ncaa was unprofessional and unethical is an extreme case of the pot calling the kettle black. Shapiro had a reputation as a sleeze ball for along time, and it was well known, yet Shalala still took the money from him.

This is Shalala squirming and dancing trying to get off the hook, and the ncaa screwing up is a perfect opportunity to deflect the blame...(look...a squirrel!) nothing more nothing less.

They are all wrong, Emmert should get his walking papers just like his investigator/enforcer did. Shalala should be fired, Miami should be hit hard, and Shapiro should be in prison.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

Sorry, ches, but I have to disagree on this one. She is just doing her job. Serving notice to the NCAA that their Miami findings had better pass the smell test, or she will go after them, and she has the political clout to do just that, I am not a fan of hers, but it is time someone stood up to the NCAA and insisted they play by the same rules they expect their members to follow, and that they not play favorites in ther various investigations (as has been their history). If Oregon gets blindsided (and I do NOT expect that), I hope our leadership has the hair to go after the NCAA, as well.

Re: Miami Notice

The NCAA and Miami should just cut a deal and put this thing to an end.  Miami has already voluntarily served a two year Bowl ban which a pretty significant.

Re: Miami Notice

No sale

They decided to take the bowl ban after they found they were looking at a 5 loss season and no bowl of ANY consequence

It wasn't even like the players knew it was coming

I say they get ZERO credit for the bowl bans they served.
