Haven't seen anything on here about a change. The team did it without Artis and now could be a shoo in for the championship. Every home game we play is like the Arizona game was ..........and I would you a passing grade on it.
However, YOUR DUCKS are incredible and deserve more than you are giving.
Get rid of the grade school introduction crap..They are all pretty decent BB players. (Better than we are or we'd be on the floor.) Giving the visitors a weak clap in appreciation of them coming to provide opposition for us would be nice as Annie suggested. The football team has to beg teams to come. Thanks for coming might be interesting.
Leave out the "air" ball and other dumb calls that all of the losers use.. The action of your people when the DUCKS shoot free throws doesn't do much either. Please be creative.
Look like you are happy and excited that you are DUCKS...........and for once get the meter over the top. Is that too much to ask? This is suggested not only for men's basketball but for all of the other athletes who are so successful in their chosen sport.
Please don't take offense...... I want the DUCKS to win the Pac 12 BB championship and They can.
Please give them honest big time support.

Re: Come On PIT CREW...!!!
Everyone on this forum wants the Pit Crew to come up with new chants but no has come up with ones of their own as an example. SEC schools have a lot of chants for football and Oregon has "Oooooooooooo". Don't care for Portland Timber's chants much. Don't have any answers but feel someone needs to change things the way they are.

Re: Come On PIT CREW...!!!
If you want to see the best crowds in basketball you have to go to places like Belgrade, Athens, or Istanbul, take a look at this...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFb3J5w8IWs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oxkt_a2mzSA
Now there are some cheering sections. Then again I like that sort of support as opposed to simply yelling really loud like we do with football or most of our sports here in the U.S
In reality if you look at most student sections around the nation there really aren't that many sections that are that creative. There are some, but most simply yell "OOOOOOO" sucks, foul out march, usual stuff. Best students section I've seen in the last 5 years is Utah St.
I would also remind those that the students can only do so much, it takes the entire crowd, the students and the alumni to create a real advantage.

Yeah our student section needs to really show up big time for the final three games at home. It would be great to see the place packed with noisy students.

Magic,
I love your passion for the ducks, but you need to calm down. I was there when the Pit Crew chanted "your dad hates you" (now that I look back, not proud of it but we got into Matt Barnes head that year talking to him about his high school football days and took him out of the game, and also caused free throws to be stopped because the rim was shaking), saw a pit helmet thrown at Scalabrene (still have my helmet by the way), and sat with the Mac Court Mullets for every game. We used to line up hours early and Ernie would bring us pizza. That was a great run for all Oregon athletics and I love that I was part of it. But the fact of the matter is that you are old and I was a student a decade ago. There is no way your posts on this board are going to influence a crowd of 18-22 year olds. They don't appreciate the run that we have gone on (we stormed the court when we beat G-Tech in the first round of the NIT my freshman year)they expect BCS games and sweet 16's. Just keep rooting for the ducks and know that the current student now will probably complain about future students the same way you do in 10 years.

Re: Come On PIT CREW...!!!
I agree with you and I was a student back in the day where I spent the night in line as well but there is no reason that our students can't be out in force. Teams like Indiana and Duke that are good most years...their students are bonkers every game. Kansas St and Kansas and heck even Colorado have great student sections so even if our students are getting "spoiled" with success I just don't understand why they don't show up in force every game. Only once have they shown up and that was the Arizona game. For UW they did too but for UA they really showed up. Other than that there has been nothing. Pretty sad.

Re: Come On PIT CREW...!!!
They really need to change the TV camera layout so that the game cameras are on the other side of Matt Court facing the Pit Crew.
Its really a bizzare, surreal scene when you hear the constant roar of the Pit crew and visually all you see is a bunch of older people sitting down and silent with empty seats around them.
Prior to the spiking of the pass the game clock went to zero. The game is over.

Re: Come On PIT CREW...!!!
I've always wondered that too. I'd rather the cameras be on the other side too so you see the students like you do with Duke and Kansas. At Mac Court in the old days the cameras used to be on the players side facing the students then in the late 80's they changed it to the student side and it wasn't the same. I asked the university why they did that and they said because they wanted to teams to visible to the camera so they weren't in the foreground anymore. I would like to know the real reason why they don't do it now.

Re: Come On PIT CREW...!!! (1 vote)
The pit crew's ineptitude, or rather, how to reverse the fact of their ineptitude, lies in re-claiming a sense of self-respect, of pride, hell, of a modicum of a sense of how they are perceived from without.
The problem is...
…they likely think they're fine. They probably even think they're kind of great, even.
But, sadly, they're ridiculous.
No. Not ridiculous. Just common. Common and juvenile. And, the latter is no kind of surprise at all. They are juveniles. They are going to act like it from time to time. But, they are also old enough to be aware of the possibility for more. Old enough to strive to be better than the simple, and mindless, pursuit of mediocrity.
I think what surprises me is their inability to look around themselves and see just how painfully common they truly are. Or, perhaps they accept their unfortunateness, which would be all the stranger still.
There is, of course, an art to bringing the fire. And the doing of it does often live in the hearts of the young. But the young have to be wise enough to know that they must be somewhat more than they are, if they are ever to be as great as they can.
No. Art lies in the imagination and not on the grade school playground. It lies in playfulness, more than crudeness. It lies in variation, and not monotony.
But, thus far, that's all they are. Unimaginative, crude, and monotonous. Horribly repetitive in their practice.
They need to go talk to some people in the theatre department.

When I saw all the posts (1 vote)
I thought I was going to be told to mind my own business.........lol..
You students are lots smarter than me but I am still working on getting smarter. Your Dad hates you and the commotion over Kevin Love did not do a lot for our reputation as a university. I go back to when Stan Love helped us win lots of games. (I know, it might not have hurt either but it really wasn't nice.) I think at the time I thought the hates you thing was funny.
This answer during the intros came to me.. On each name...
HOW DY........GO DUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!.
You guys probably can think of a better one.
My point after hundreds of years of thought is this...How can we best help our team. Hey, they worked hard in Seattle.........VERY HARD...
Chip Kelly got the world's attention by establishing something different. You people could do the same.

Re: When I saw all the posts
Some of the chants are moronic. "If you're happy that your winning clap your hands?" I think I learned that one in the first grade. The students in the endzone are pretty good when teams are shooting free throws at them though. The ones behind the announcers are almost moron/nerd type.

Student Section is fine. It's the rest of the fans that sit on their hands every game (If they show up at all).

Oregon doesn't play in 'The Pit' anymore. I think it might be time to get a new name for the student section. Pit Crew was associated with the old arena - The Pit. New arena. New coach. New student section. Same old name. Innovation is supposed to be an Oregon tradition. Just to get the Knight Arena ideas flowing, media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/...4_135_super.jpg maybe: Duck Templar? Yes. That idea is probably weak. My point is, a new name for the student section might spark some new ideas and creativity.

Re: Come On PIT CREW...!!! (2 votes)
I blame the internet, smart phones, TV contracts and facebook.
There are no original cheers at any arena anymore. Now that we can turn on ESPN, ESPN.com, ESPN-Mobile and can see every student section in the USA chanting the same cheers, they don't seem as clever as when there were only 3 channels on the TV and you had to get the box score from the next day's paper.
Any embarrassing personal info about a player or coach is already on TMZ or Twitter. By the time the fans are chanting about it, it is already old news. Sometimes the player even posts it on Facebook or Twitter him/herself.
TV contracts make it easier to watch the game from home/dorm/party. No need to waste 5 hours waiting in line when you can be doing 5 hours of anything else and still see the entire game for free.
Even fans at the game are distracted by smart phones with facebook, twitter, even watching other games.
None of those are bad things. Just the reality of sports in 2013 and beyond.

Awww...the old golden books! And Key Comics. 15cents! Wow I remember Bob's 19cent hamburgers here in Eugene with RC Cola. Those were the days. Re: Come On PIT CREW...!!!
Yeah I've been frustrated with a lack of chants/cheers at Ducks games. I don't understand why Autzen doesn't scream the simple, obvious, "WIN! THE! DAY! - WIN! THE! DAY!" Etc instead of just "Oooooooo"
Imagine USC taking a timeout break during a critical 3rd down in the 4th quarter with the whole stadium yelling WIN THE DAY! WIN THE DAY! Something seems quite Roman gladiator about that to me. My $0.02.

I still blame Marcus Kent for ruining the Pit Crew, but that is way too long of a story to tell here.
