OT Double amputee sprinter arrested for murder

sports.yahoo.com/news/reports-...15462--spt.html

Oscar Pistorius was arrested after shooting his girlfriend 4 times in his home. Just another reminder to put no man on a pedestal.

If so, I don't think he has a leg to stand on with that defense.

Yeah, I don't think he will walk on these charges

Wonder if he missed the memo on it only being permissible to kill off your imaginary girlfriend (too soon?)

They will likely release him until his trial, using an electronic-tracking ankle bracelet

Read the early Twitter reports late last night, but wasn't sure if this story actually had legs.

I'd be curious to know if the weapon used was a sawed-off....

The ironic thing is she was apparently quite outspoken about violence against women, which is a huge issue all over the world but is particularly big in Africa. It's also an issue I care about a lot given that I have two daughters.

If he did it I hope he recieves appropriate punishment.

Of course. It's a defense mechanism.

Also, what if we don't joke about it? Will she come back?

Very tragic story, and horrible that this happened... but... this kinda stuff is a bit outside of our sphere of influence.

And, if it makes you feel any better, I give everyone on planet Earth (besides husky fans, of course), the right to make whatever jokes they want about me, if I meet an untimely demise or get put in such a spotlight. Pretty sure they will be the very least of my worries.

And, as someone who, like Oscar Pistorius, was born with a birth defect, I recommend starting with the one-ear/half-deaf jokes... They tend to kill. ;)

Whoa on the deaf jokes. I'm deaf and am extremely sensitive about deaf jokes - well, you know, at least the ones that I actually do hear.

The police did not appear to be stumped by this whodunit. Nothing mysterious was afoot.
