Not surprising we fell a couple spots because of a coaching change. The real surprise is Stanford moving to 2.

Could not read anymore after he called it the Rose Bowl game presented by Vizeo.

Stanford's gonna have a sick elite SEC level defense, they will also have anther kind of sick sec level offense.

Water cooler talk. It does not mean much at this time of the year. I'll start paying real attention to the rankings in early October.
We should have a very good team again.
GO DUCKS!

It was funny to read about Stanford 3 BCS bowl appearances and win in the Rose Bowl ... then absolutely NO MENTION of Oregon's 4 BCS bowls and wins in the Rose and Fiesta the last two seasons.
Oregon has problems with Coach Kelly leaving and linebackers graduating.
Stanford really has no problems with their top 2 pass catchers, top corner, and 1500+ yard running back leaving ... especially with Hogan projected to get better.
Just like the end of 2011 when the one win by USC by 3 points over the Ducks signified the rise of the Trojans for 2012, the Stanford Cardinal will ride their 3 point win over Oregon in 2012 to a great 2013 season capped by a great run (and a projected win over Oregon) ... ooops, that 2011-2012 thingy for USC did not actually work out real well -> I predict a similar fate for Stanford ... the Cardinal lose to Oregon in 2013.

What? The Were Backs aren't in the Preseason Top 25?
That can't be true. Just ask Kim and Ecklund and Fetters.

What no Huskies? 2013, as we all know by now, is supposed to be the special year?

People, it's not a big deal.
I will never understand how people on this site get their panties in a twist when a writer writes something that isn't 100% pro-Oregon. We're still 5th, and that's plenty high to not be too concerned about rising up over the course of a season into national championship contention.
Stanford beat us, why shouldn't people put them ahead? Is it close? yes, but they beat us, at our place, and return probably the best defense the Pac-12 has seen in about a number of years, a defense that owned us in our game with them. On top of that, nobody knows how good Helfrich is going to be as a head coach.

This to me is the biggest sign we have arrived. Now for the second season in a row a 2 loss team that was able to beat us will go into the next season as favorites to reach the national title on the back of beating us. That is absolutely tremendous respect. I don't think Stanford will fall as far in 2013 as USC did in 2012 as Stanford's coach is light years ahead of SC, but wouldn't be shocked to see them finish 9-3ish. Green85 wrote:

And remember, their renovated stadium is very, very young and inexperienced.

Ohio State "runs the table" with their soft schedule.

Does anyone here agree with the article's prediction that UCLA will finish behind OS?

Re: Ducks fall from 2 to 5 in this too early poll wo CK (3 votes)
Exactly. Pre season polls mean absolutey NOTHING, and we need look no further than USC last year. They would be much more meaningful if there were NO polls until the third week of the season, but that would not lead to the hits on the websites or the magazines being sold. These polls are more marketing than fact in most cases anyway, especially early.
