Re: Utah hires Dennis Erickson as Co-Offensive Coordinator
So does that mean there are actually two OCs or that DE is COC to the HC?
Are there any limits on how many coaches a college fb can have?

Are there any limits on how many coaches a college fb can have? I believe they're limited to nine assistant coaches and they can disperse them however they wish. It appears they're going to have 2 OC's. He's being brought in to help they're other OC who's only 26 and was probably in over his head last year.

I like this (2 votes)
DE is basically the mentor to Brian Johnson or whatever his name is - the 26 year old OC.
Interesting they have Johnson as OC but realize he's not ready to be OC.

A couple of years ago I chatted with Dennis in a Newport Beach bar. He was there with a couple of assistant coaches after a golf tourney fundraiser for ASU. Erickson was friendly and drank a total of one light beer while he was there. No biggie.

Exactly. I've heard several stories about DE, almost all of them good. He is a class act. Some people love to judge others without noticing the log in their own eye. Everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone gives back as much as Erickson.

DE (6 votes)
will always be a hero in Corvallis. I'll always give him a standing ovation whenever he returns as will many others
He's still has quite a network of high school coaches (particularly from Florida) that may help Utah a bit as well.
That's a good pickup for Utah

Re: Utah hires Dennis Erickson as Co-Offensive Coordinator (1 vote)
DE has to have a TON of football knowledge that he can help the Ute coaching staff. Sounds like a good hire to me. Good for them.
Ya know, DE once got popped for DUI in Seattle and I never have. But the only difference is that I'm luckier than he is. I could have been lots of times and I won't hold one DUI against him.
I behave much better these days.
GO DUCKS!
