I assume play calling will be some different, if the plays aren't.
Will the new coach make any scheme changes or expect more of the same?
It won't matter for us, but was just curious as to what the consensus was of Duck fans.
Aren't you loving the implosion at sc...ROTFLOL!!!

I think everyone assumes (and the coach has indicated) there will be very few changes to... anything.

I wouldn't. InspectorVol wrote: I assume play calling will be some different, if the plays aren't.

Many of us feel that with less experience at RB, more experience at QB and more talent at WR that our O might skew more towards passing, slightly.
All conjecture of course.

I would bet our play will be a bit less conservative. Fewer huddles So we can snap the ball faster. Many Duck boosters were unhappy with Chips inability to call a whole game. He seemed to only want to use the same 3-4 plays over and over. I expect fewer close games.

Re: Is anything going to change for you guys with the new coach?
I agree with Knothole somewhat. We may pass a little more until our RBs show they can carry the load as expected. If the RBs are as good as we think they will be then expect to see major running yardage. With our new DL coach, we may see a little difference in our defensive strategy but, then again, not so much. Hope many of you Vol fans make it over. You'll enjoy Oregon's beauty. Hopefully, you won't enjoy the game results. ;)

I heard that with the hiring of Lubick, we will be looking at more downfield passing.

I'd be surprised if much changed with the play calling.
The way we call plays and set up plays is part of Oregon's offensive system and I doubt we change our system much.

I think Helf intends to pass a bit more vertically than Chip and might not gamble as much on 4th down, but otherwise I don't expect many changes.

Please tell me this is full of sarcasm??? (5 votes)
Fewer closer games?? Oregon's MOV was more points than almost 3/4 of teams score in an entire game! LOL. The "boosters" who were unhappy with Chip's ability to call plays are idiots. Yep, because those plays work OVER and OVER and OVER, Chip should stop calling those ones! Lakeforestduck wrote: I would bet our play will be a bit less conservative. Wouldn't a deeper passing game reduce the speed at which your offense operates?

Have any of those boosters ever seen a game? That is some of the most convoluted thinking I have ever seen. There must really be some very stupid DC's out there for us to roll them every year, just using 3-4 plays over and over.

This is just silly. Yes Chip Kelly did not call games like it was a video game and beat teams by 70 when he could have. In real life this makes sense because not only did he remove starters to reduce the risk of injury and give young players experience, he also kept other teams from seeing the whole playbook when it wasn't needed. Why waste a perfectly good play when you are up by 50, why don't you save it for when you need it?

Sorry guys. I thought the "fewer close games" might give away a little sense of sarcasm.

Tough to tell the intention of a post (2 votes)
You just never know who is joking and who is serious. I know they are kinda silly but when I'm putting something thats sarcastic I add an emoticon just to make sure people know my intentions. Plus, I read stuff like this on here all the time Lake Lakeforestduck wrote: Sorry guys. I thought the "fewer close games" might give away a little sense of sarcasm.

You are assuming we ever throw an incomplete pass! ;-)
