USC let's go of OC 2 days after LOI day???? Post Rating (3 votes)

Seriously, they didn't think he was gone before LOI?

People are mad at Chip for leaving 3 weeks before LOI but that is far better than firing a coach "coincidently" 2 days after players sign on to play at your school.  NCAA should allow any offensive player to change their minds if they want.

Given this is done by Kiffin, I am betting he lied to recruits and they didn't know about this change at OC.

Was he a 5-star OC?

Florida International did the same thing

or something similar (I think on LOI day).

It makes sense only if the HC is very desperate.

Don't know whether all the recruits knew, but a LA newspaper column indicated that Ty Issac, the No. 4 Rivals tailback, was told a day before signing his letter.

USC did not have a big group of guys signed for offense. Some of them had already enrolled early.

All the USC signees for Wednesday could have gone to another school if they had all known.

The recruits I feel sorry for are guys who are 3-star or below who have their schollie offers pulled at the last minute and may not have a good choice.

It's their business how they run their coaching staff. It has no effect on any other football team but the Trojans.

Not really true.  The specific reason not to announce a firing before LOI day is to make sure that your recruits don't bolt to another team.

Same outcome with a twist. Alabama's OL line coach took a duster to the eagle's the day after LOI. Do you think Alabama provided full disclosure to their recruits?

I wonder if Haden pulls plug on Kitten now or after next season: Dead Lane Walking.

Yep, I'm sure Ohio State was telling Dontre Wilson that how Oregon may run their coaching staff has no bearing on where he should go....

Relative to USC, it has not been a good month:
- first, they fire their basketball coach mid-season
- second, this week they suspend their baseball coach for investigation of possible NCAA violations
- third, they have four coaches turnover on the football staff and lose 3 or 4 verbal commits to other programs on signing day

What's that have to do with the Trojans?

I read that Wilson was upset that Kelly left the Ducks after sitting in his (Wilson's) house the day before recruiting him. Wilson was not happy about it and that is why he signed with tOSU.

He was the only recruiting casualty we had because of the coaching change. Things like this do happen, we are dealing with kids, not grown ups.

I expected the fall out because of the coaching change to be much worse. Things actually worked out real well.

GO DUCKS!

They must not have told the team if you go by their reactions on twitter.

Lame Kitty is safe for two more seasons. Haden will hire a new coach once all the scholarship restrictions are lifted.

I hope you're right but I'm worried LK will be gone after this season so Haden can get his man in place to have a full season to recruit their first full class in 3 seasons.

Nothing is too shocking with Kiffin.  Unless he actually took some personal responsibility for all the problems.   LOL

Both Banker and Cavanaugh turned down coaching opportunities at USC

We'll see who he gets.

Scummy move, but.... Post Rating (1 vote)

The NCAA is very clear that you are committing to the institution and not a coach. It's one of the very few slivers of emphasis on academics that the NCAA has in its corrupt cloth.

Sounds like they made a run at Nick Allioti as well. I hadn't heard about Banker or Cavanaugh.

I sure hope LK lasts that long-the program will be in absolute shambles by then.
