Liley did it last year (4) and he will do it again this year (8?), not every school ( UO ) maxes out their schollies every year, and no, if he applied 4 to the previous or next year, he's working with a deficit.....man. jrlaco wrote: check your facts, my man --------------------------------------------- --- oreduk wrote:

Yeah, you're right #2 on the depth chart "transferred" lets take a walk down memory lane, how many walk on's were on the Giant killer 3-6 team? jrlaco wrote: Sorry..shouldnt have quoted you there. RE: Riley rips another scholarship (1 vote)
I am not really sure what your point is, but it has been well-documented that we went three classes without recruiting any real depth on the o line. It was pathetic, and I have said as much many times. That changed last year, and we were able to red shirt some solid freshmen. Throw in a couple of transfers and we are much improved at that vital position.
The reality is that this is a big boy business and the process of improving will result in some attrition. You guys have had some players transfer out too..do you not think some of those (Wallace) were 'encouraged' to look elsewhere?
As far as the charge of hypocrite..Riley's reputation as a 'good guy' is not a self-designated one. He doesnt walk around giving interviews about how wonderful he is. In addition, I have never heard of him criticizing other coaches and programs for how they conduct their business. Where's the hypocrisy? If you feel some of us Beav fans are guilty of double standards...well, I would argue that, but it would make more sense.
We have been instructed not to accept mediocrity, remember!

RE: Riley rips another scholarship (1 vote)
You're absolutely right,Riley doesn't blow his own horn, and neither did Chip, or Bellotti, or Rich, these coaches did nothing but praise the coaches and players of OS win or lose, however it didn't stop Aholes like you berating them for every word they uttered, If ANY UO coach did what Riley is doing with an over-signed class you "people" would tear him to pieces,....the beav fan base is as a whole, is...hypocritical, they expect more from their rivals than they expect from themselves........ jrlaco wrote: I am not really sure what your point is, but it has been well-documented that we went three classes without recruiting any real depth on the o line. RE: Riley rips another scholarship (1 vote)
Derek Nielson was a walk-on. No scholarship was "yanked" because he was never on scholarship.
As far as being over the 85 limit, no signee is on scholarship until practice starts in August. Some may accept a grayshirt. Perhaps another won't qualify. Scholarships will open up from current players who graduate with eligibilty remaining and leave school, or who transfer, or who don't make grades, or who leave for whatever other reason.
Come the start of practice, OSU will have 85 players on scholarship, the legal limit. And some on this board will have to find another straw man to flail at. But thanks for your concern.

RE: Riley rips another scholarship (1 vote)
you're on a Duck board , Riley kicks kids to the curb just like Kiffen,.....fact. You're not going to "grey shirt" more than 1 player, you're already playing from behind and you've mortgaged your future with all the JC's, keep spinning it. "Come the start of practice, OSU will have 85 players on scholarship,"
No doubt, hope the kids that Riley kicks out of school have somewhere to go. kahler wrote: Derek Nielson was a walk-on. No scholarship was "yanked" because he was never on scholarship.

haha...keep digging. You made an accusation against Riley that wasn't true, instead of being the bigger man, you transitioned in to calling me and others a-holes. Pretty weak.
Players will leave our program, as they do yours. JC's will suit up, as they do at Oregon
This one didnt go so well for you, back to the drawing board. --------------------------------------------- --- oreduk wrote:

Accusation? really? he removed at "least" (4) scholies last year and is poised to double that this year, that's a fact, Players leave,...because Riley kicked them out of the program, oh but wait, it's either a "Big Boy" game or it's the wonderful wholesomeness that is os, make up your mind.

Who are these players Riley "kicked out" of the program?
Do you think Wallace was kicked out of the Oregon program?

RE: Riley rips another scholarship (1 vote)
Back to the drawing board? really? we have had players leave of course, during the off season, The Ducks have "1" JC for this year. I know you can't tell the difference but taking a scholarship away to make a spot for another player during recruiting week is not the same as a player leaving during the summer of after the season has just ended,.......and as far as being an ahole? that's a generous assumption. jrlaco wrote: haha...keep digging.
