Roper, thanks to Stewart going off, will always have a place in my heart for his performance in the Sun Bowl. Ducks were one of the biggest 'dogs of that bowl season, and then laid wood on the Bulls.  Certainly helped after that dismal end to the season.

GO DUCKS!!

Not to mention Civil War.

One of the most heartbreaking games ever but:

We were so thin at WR that we moved one of our safeties to a starting slot receiver and he scored his first TD (Jeff Maehl)

Jonathan Stewart played through turf toe and carried the team

Justin Roper took the load with Dennis Dixon on the sidelines relaying plays and getting the crowd pumped.

Walter Thurmond III kept us in the game on defense.

That team will always hold a place with me. The most pride we'll ever have in a Sun Bowl, all things considered.

I tell ya, that 2007 team really had no business being even close in the CW.  Started the game with 4th string QB in Cody and he gets knocked out early only to left with our 5th string QB and absolutely no possibly back-up.  As you said, so thin at WR due to injuries, we move over a true freshman in Jeff Maehl who scores a TD.  Stewart is hurting with bad turf toe and so many other injuries.

To add salt to the wound, Bellotti and team mess up the final 30 seconds of the game with a FG to win it in regulation.  The players gave it their all, very proud of them.

The Sun Bowl showed what a genius Kelly is.  Had time to prep with Roper and we score 50+ points.
