Re: "The University of Ole Miss"

My wife went to HS is the Boston area, her Sr year they were preseason #1 in the Nation in the USAToday Poll, (they lost their first game that year, to a team from NY)

They had about 8 D1 Sr's on the team. When it came time for one of those to announce he would accept a schollie to BC he said:

" I will be attending the University of Boston College"

Man I would love a home and home with Old Miss. That would be a great road trip. Tailgating in the Grove and seeing all the Southern Belles dolled up. I know some of you did the road trip to Mississippi State but I missed that one. What do you say Rebel fans, er, sorry, Black Bear fans. Do you want to put a bug in the ear of your AD to set up a home and home with Oregon. Hell, we'll come to you first! biggrin

We would love it, too. Come see us sometime. We are nothing like State.

That's not a good thing to say. People who traveled to the Mississippi State game said it was one of the best experiences ever. The State fans who traveled to Autzen were really nice, too. So you're saying you're even nicer? biggrin

There is something undeniably alluring about those Southern Belles.  Not the deep south, but met one in Virginia during high school while visiting a friend who moved their from Conn.  I very nearly flew down for her prom...she was that beautiful.  Pictures I've seen from Oxford continue to back up that image.  If I ever find myself in Mississippi...a visit to the campus will be de regueur.

Of course. What do you expect me to say?

Seriously, there are plenty of nice Miss. State fans. I am related to many of them. But Oxford is a completely difference experience that Starkville. Hope you get to experience it, and I would love to attend a game in Eugene.

The Grove pre-game, the Grove post-game, then walk in to town and sit on a porch over looking the square. Pretty much as good a game day as you will find anywhere. And I have been to a lot of game days.

One odd thing though, even though it is clear that everyone is drinking, they still expect you to go through the charade of concealing your bottles in the Grove. There are a lot (and I mean a lot) of red plastic cups running around that place. Most garbage cans per capita in the world I believe as well. Hottie Tottie

While the south does have a lot of "southern belles" (I am married to one), we also have the highest obesity rates and highest smoking rates . . .

I will be attending "the University of Ohio State". Choose wherever you want son, but at least get the name of the school right.

We have our quirky laws - it is Mississippi. One of the amazing things is that on Sunday morning the Grove is perfectly clean - never looks like there were 30,000 people there the night before.

I have heard that the Natchez Trace Parkway boasts more mansions per capita than anywhere else in the US, true?

I know Natchez as a city has a bunch. Not sure about the Parkway except it has a low speed limit and the Park Rangers that patrol it are pretty strict. I can't imagine driving from Natchez to Nashville at 50 MPH.

One of the best road trips I have ever taken was through Mississippi on Highway 61, the Blues Highway, from New Orleans to Memphis, it travels along the western border of the state.  A must for any blues fan.  I met some of the nicest people in the world in those small towns along the highway.

Never lost a party. I would rather have a trip to Atlanta or a BCS bowl, but we have a significant number of fans who prefer the party. We are finally reversing that, however.
