RE: Washington Recruiting
Washington has beat Oregon in the ranking of the 17 year old football players before. Recently.
Doesn't change the fact your OL is a tub of goo.
Doesn't change the fact you're inept at stopping the spread. (Or any other offense of merit). (Baylor just scored again).

RE: Washington Recruiting
Agreed to a point. Like it or not, Kelly's untimely and hasty departure from Oregon has really hit our recruiting hard this year in a very negative way. We have probably lost 3-4 high end recruits because he left when he did- Wilson and the Robinson twins, to name a few. Also, other schools are capitalizing on this, along with upgrading their facilities and coaches. The fact that since in the last 3 years, we have seen about 8 new coaches hired in the P12 conference is proof that other schools are raising the bar that Oregon has set now. That being said, I think that we will be fine for this year, even though our class won't be nearly as good as it could of and should have been if Kelly had stayed like he should have. It's next year's class and the one in 2015 that have me concerned. If we falter with two more classes, then we will be in serious trouble. The spotlight is on Helfrich now, and it's his job to find ways to keep this train rolling in the next 3 years. If he can't keep the wins to 10 a year, then it will be time for a change.

Kelly's gone. The Luster's gone. Everybody has wild Uni's. It's Ewgene, in the middle of nowhere. NCAA lurking around. Kelly's gone. Facilities that others are improving now also. Kelly's gone. It's Ewgene. I hope this helps. If the Dawgs start improving next year with the new stadium, and this staff that can recruit, this could only get worse for you. You better win when you come up this year!
Now, obviously, if you're program is in fertile recruiting grounds, then you can often get to those top kids sooner... but, as someone pointed out, it's not like uw is relying on top local kids. In fact, they're losing a lot of the top local kids to bigger schools (i.e. Max Browne going to USC).
Browne leaving for SC doesn't hurt us. Our QB depth is just fine: Troy Williams, Cyler Miles, Jeff Lindquist, Derrik Brown, Keith Price.
We have lost some good ones, but also have reeled in most of the rest. Kasen Williams and ASJ immediately come to mind. Banner, Garnett, Browne, and Russell are really the only "losses" of note the last few years. But we lost them to USC, Stanford, and Notre Dame, so it's not like we are losing them to Oregon or anything. Some kids just want to get out of the PNW. With Banner I don't think it helped us that his biological father was a Husky, and more specifically because he has no relationship with him. That was not the typical legacy situation at all with Zach.
Garnett wants to be a doctor and chose to play for Stanford which fits both his personality on the line play and his career goals. I don't think anyone else had a legitimate shot once Furd offered him.

Kim is in fact a guy, albeit a 4'9" guy.....but that explains why the normal size football looks so big in his hands

Look at their stellar OL class this year, after having arguably the worst OL in the Pac 12 last year. They just got a commitment from an OL who's only other offer was from Cal Poly. This is a great class based on stars, but it's completely unblanced. Doogman actually created an OL board for people to post their frustration over it, it got so bad. One thing you need to know about Sark and his staff: They don't recruit need or skill set, they recruit stars and that's it. A lot of people in Washington understand how limited this recruiting class is.
It's basically lipstick on a pig.

I continue to be absolutely dumfounded by Washington recruiting... I would like to know what kind of precedent there is for a program that is at their high-water mark for a DECADE at 7-6... for a program that hasn't been in the national discussion for over 20 years.. with a head coach that has almost zero credibility nationally, to be this strong in recruiting. They have recruited three of the top six WRs on the west coast... continue to be in the mix for top 50 players. What the heck is the message? One guy (can't remember his name) was quoted as saying, "I don't want to wait around to win, I want to win now!" Huh???? On paper, UW is a program where you pick it due to immediate playing time, to come to a program to build something from scratch, for the recruits that were overlooked by the big boys... for the local kids who always wanted to play close to home. Of their nine four-star recruits, none of them are from the state of Washington. Well, why is this? Tosh is an incredible recruiter? Ok, but really? What is his message? Mind Control?? This is a program that should be on the verge of quitting after this sorry decade of ineptitude..... that program just LOST TO WASHINGTON STATE. They haven't even been competitive with Oregon since the Clinton Administration. And yet they continue to convince 18 year olds and their parents that UW is a desirable location to play football. These are players with great options yet sign on with UW. At some point you really have to question what is going on up there. Seriously.

A couple of the local DL commits might be moved to the OL.One of our Frosh OL Brostek was moved to the DL, where there was numbers needed. Injuries killed the Dawg OL last year. Three to four returning starters didn't play. So they were replaced by RS frosh-sophs. But thanks for the concern.

Re: Washington Recruiting
I love Qualls and Ross is really good..and if the dawgs land the the twins I will give it up...but don't act like you have UCLA's class...now that's one to be jealous of.
I will be honest...if I was Mountain West or Mac AD...I would find myself an up and coming O coordinator, find a legit D-Cord, hire Tosh as head coach...let him pull in some awesome JC's and above average Frosh and out ttalent the league in year two. He can recruit...no doubt.
But you had the #11 class according to scout in 10' and #14 in 08' and I don't recall you being 11th or 14th in the actual rankings since about 2000.
