I continue to be absolutely dumfounded by Washington recruiting... I would like to know what kind of precedent there is for a program that is at their high-water mark for a DECADE at 7-6... for a program that hasn't been in the national discussion for over 20 years.. with a head coach that has almost zero credibility nationally, to be this strong in recruiting. They have recruited three of the top six WRs on the west coast... continue to be in the mix for top 50 players. What the heck is the message? One guy (can't remember his name) was quoted as saying, "I don't want to wait around to win, I want to win now!" Huh???? On paper, UW is a program where you pick it due to immediate playing time, to come to a program to build something from scratch, for the recruits that were overlooked by the big boys... for the local kids who always wanted to play close to home. Of their nine four-star recruits, none of them are from the state of Washington. Well, why is this? Tosh is an incredible recruiter? Ok, but really? What is his message? Mind Control?? This is a program that should be on the verge of quitting after this sorry decade of ineptitude..... that program just LOST TO WASHINGTON STATE. They haven't even been competitive with Oregon since the Clinton Administration. And yet they continue to convince 18 year olds and their parents that UW is a desirable location to play football. These are players with great options yet sign on with UW. At some point you really have to question what is going on up there. Seriously.

Players taking pay cuts to go pro. prosecutor alumni looking the other way on serious charges, judges giving the old wink and nod.nothings changed, except some of the coaches & players. The motives and the means are the same.

Re: Washington Recruiting (3 votes)
well, the irony is UW fans love to paint Oregon as the dastardly, corrupt program when in fact, they have significantly underperformed in the one aspect where corruption would be the most clear: recruiting. You can't find a program with Oregon's success, facilities, coaching, etc that continues to be out-recruited year by year by it's national rivals. Last year UO got crushed by SC and this year it looks like they will lose quite a few recruiting battles to the Trojans, Buckeyes and maybe even the Huskies with a program that is winning at a staggering rate. The current high school seniors have witnessed an Oregon Program that is now on par with the Ohio States, Texas', etc not to mention a brand that is second to none with uniforms, style of play and national exposure.

It's similar to Kal with Tosh, except Kal actually won games.
Bottom line is, kids are easily malleable.

Re: Washington Recruiting
18 yo kids make decisions that make no sense to anyone but them.
Some people resonate with that age group (PC, Tosh etc.) It's a gift that I want no part of, but it's a gift all the same. Good luck to them all.

Re: Washington Recruiting (1 vote)
I know I saw a tweet from one of the Robinson twins, I believe it was Tyree, showing a copy of NCAA Football 2013 with a Huskies player on the front wearing his #2 and had his name printed at the bottom. Post said something about UW "pulling out all the stops".
Not sure if that meant that UW GAVE him a copy of the game, or just mocked up a cover for him.
Either way, wouldn't that cover be akin to the comic books that Oregon used to do before the NCAA banned them? Ergo, UW is breaking recruiting rules again?
Not to mention, how classic is it that "XBOX Tosh" would pull that particular move? LOL "Here's a free copy of this years college football game kid. Hit me up on XBOX Live and we'll "play"/talk recruiting. My handle is ToshGivesGreatHandies"

Re: Washington Recruiting
IIRC, that would be a violation, if true. The analogy to the comic books is accurate.

Re: Washington Recruiting
Make like Washington and tell everyone you know that Sark is gonna get fired soon! 7-6 Just ain't cuttin it, he's on his way out!
At a certain point it is on the University and Staff to get the good mojo flowing. Because no one wants to talk and go the extra mile to defend the University, we seemingly can't do anything right despite winning 12 games this year and finishing #2.
Meanwhile people don't even know or recognize that Sark has 3 7-6 seasons in a row. They are losing to teams with less talent and getting completely curb stomped by the real national powers.
Hello? The loss to WSU was this season. Hello, anyone remember the score to the LSU game? Hello? Anyone remember the we would have been up on them 42-7 at the half had Chip already not taken his foot off their neck?
And these sniveling little worms still have the gall to run around acting as if and howling like they have something going.
Hey Sark, when you get your ass kicked you do not get the right to run around as if you did the ass kicking you little stooge.
This is on the University of Oregon to figure out how to reverse this little spell they are trying to cast up north. Should be easy since its based on very little substance. Time to stop acting like the guy who is trying to slit your throat and piss on your grave is not a threat. You put him down.
Last I checked you have 10% better chance to graduate from udud, but a 200% better chance to go to the NFL at Oregon.

Re: Washington Recruiting (3 votes)
Calm down people...UW has a good recuriting staff, a new stadium, a good fan base and a very nice city location. It also has some momentum this year.... I do think we played our recuiting horrible too. I mean it seems like we were very picky and the fact that the NCAA wouldn't just come out with a decision along with CK leaving in the worst way possible (let's be honest, it KILLED this year) is really hurting us.
But you know what, so what? I mean, we are going to be a top 5 program this year and UW will be off-season champs. Does this mean they'll be "back?" Maybe, but not with Sarkingham coaching. I would hate to lose the Twins, but even if we do, I don't think we have much to worry about. They haven't beaten us in a freaking decade.

Quick question:
Is Sark still running that program?
He is?
We're good then.

Re: Washington Recruiting (4 votes)
I personally just feel pity for the young men who buy into the idea they will make the difference in a program which hasn't been relevant in decades. I also don't want a kid who would pick a program where they don't have to compete for playing time. If a player wants to be on the field at the expense of winning, then let them go north and wear purple!

- Really...they were? Uhm, we win on the field. I think it's pretty clear why recuits go to Oregon. you don't. You haven't won anything in two decades...that's a long time.

RE: Washington Recruiting (1 vote)
That safety they picked up last year would have been a nice fit at UO, maybe a piece that would have made the difference in an NC run. Instead, he gets to play video games for a team that dances at toilet bowl losses. There are sad consequences when those scammers hoodwink quality recruits; most kids are wise to it, though.

RE: Washington Recruiting (3 votes)
UW has a lot to offer academically as well, #25 rated university worldwide. We have finally upgraded the stadium, weight room, all football facilities. We are doing what you did 8 years ago, when you were going 8-4.
