no kidding........
Is our women's basketball program the 4th or 5th best program in Oregon?
I hear Southern Oregon has a pretty good team this year.

Last season, Baylor had the most combined wins and win pct in NCAA history for the big 4 sports: fball, mbball, wbball, baseball.
However it is hard to argue with Stanford's consistency across all sports, Olympic included. Throw in the prestige of Stanford's academics and it's hard name a school even close.
But it is yet again a good year to be a Duck.

Oregon's issue when making a statement like that is we played far less sports than schools like Stanford, Texas, Florida, etc
If we throw in cross country, then school I mentioned can list a bunch of smaller sports they do better than us.
For it's size though, Oregon is quite impressive.

If we throw in tennis and soccer, which most schools have, we would also go down in the list.

For fall sports among sports in which we actually field a team we were 4th in the Capital One Cup.

I was looking at the directors cup actually. Overall in the Directors Cup we are 6th but since we only field teams in 5 (WCC, MCC, FB, WSOC, WVB) of the 8 sports (don't field teams in WFH, MSOC, MWP) based on points scored in just the 5 sports we field teams we are 3rd behind only Stanford and Florida St. AnotherNinkasi wrote: I think we're 5th for both men and women.

http://www.oregonlive.com/duck..._golden_ag.html The Golden Age. I have been following the Ducks for thirty years and can't remember a time when so many sports were enjoying such a level of success.

I think Westhead should be foreced to wash Jim Moore's car at least once a week, mow his lawn, and pick up his dry cleaning. Unbelievable the difference in what the 2 have accomplished compared to what they're getting paid. Or, I should say, what they've accomplished HERE, since PW is obviously still cashing in and coasting on what he accomplished back during the Reagan administration.

ah, isn't great to select a choice from 5 different polls? Yea it is. Actually I started a thread before saying oregon was voted 15th by baseball america or something like that but I was told I was wrong and oregon was 6th.

Someone said that the poll we are lowest on is actually the most accurate one.... Hopefully that isn't true, or if it is that we can prove them wrong

RE: Most impressive college, best sports all around?
If you want to go with small sports as well - we are the 2 time defending national champions in Tumbling and Acrobatics. If you haven't gone to a meet yet, you should check them out this year. It is quite impressive, and you get to see the inside of MK arena for only $5 a head. Regarding the post about our WBB team being 4th or 5th best in the state, I think that is a little harsh. I would put them 3rd - Just behind OSU and Springfield High School. Anyway, I agree it is a great time to be a duck and we are experiencing an amazing run for the whole athletic department. However, we have a looong way to go to compete with Stanford for the total overall program.
