What did y'all think of Vinnie?

What did y'all think of Vinnie?

Made four solo tackles and was in on a couple more. I saw them move him inside as a linebacker on a play or two and he was moving all over the field. He looked like he was all the way back from the knee injury and I am hoping he gets some playing time this year. I will be very surprised if he doesn't make the squad.

I think Vinnie did an excellant job last night. Larry Holder(nola.com) have Vinnie on his early projected 53-man roster....yes indeed......biggrin

Re: Saints projected 53-man roster after first preseason game

biggrin

Larry Holder projected 53 man

Secondary (10)
Keenan Lewis
Patrick Robinson
Corey White
Stanley Jean-Baptiste
Champ Bailey
Jairus Byrd
Kenny Vaccaro
Rafael Bush
Trevin Wade
Vinnie Sunseri
Analysis: There's no question the secondary holds the most question marks as far as who makes the cut or not. I really liked what I saw from Wade on special teams against the Rams. So I can't leave him off the roster. The longer Bailey misses practice, the more his roster spot becomes tenuous. I'm on the edge with Sunseri vs. Pierre Warren. Warren has outplayed all of the rookie safeties during camp and nearly picked off a pass Friday night. At some point Warren could work his way on to my 53-man roster.

By the way, Mark Ingram look very impressive as well. Hopefully he'll do the same in the regular season and land a hugh contract with the Saints after the season....yes indeed.....biggrin

On the rise:

Vinnie Sunseri, S - Sunseri was very active versus the Rams on defense and special teams. He appeared to find his way to the football and was in on a handful of tackles. At another crowded position, Sunseri faces an uphill battle but could find a home on special teams if continues to work.

I really liked watching Mark run against a very good DL with backup OLmen and running well.  He had some large holes to run through and took full advantage of them.

I didn't watch the entire game as I couldn't get past the Rams broadcast that I was getting.  Everything was talking up the Rams and no information on the Saints.  That coupled with I had to go to bed early as I had to work at 4am.  I turned it off in the 2nd quarter.

Sunseri has ball skills and a sense for the game that you have to be born with.  His ability to understand what the offense is trying to do on each play helps him before and after the snap of the ball.

In my opinion Bama doesn't lose last season if Sunseri is on the field.  Saban trusted him to call out the defense.

On the other point, Ingram seemed to looked 10-15 pounds lighter.  Looked like he trusted where the hole would be and went with the play.

Mark looked fit to me, and that's a good sign. When he was at Alabama he looked huge in his uniform. I haven't seen that in New Orleans but he looked closer to it the other night.

Vinnie is a coach's son and plays like it. He will most likely be one heck of a coach one day, though it is hard to coach instinct, and that's what he's got going for him. biggrin

Thought Sunseri played very well in last nites game against the Titans...like the bone jarring hit he made to knock the ball loose from the receiver...and he went up and make an outstanding interception...looking good...

When the Saints get knocked out of the playoffs, Vinnie can go to work at Bubba's House of Shrimp  devil
