WR Brandon Coleman

WR Brandon Coleman

Saints undrafted rookie WR Brandon Coleman is noticeably having a "tough camp."Coleman was signed as a priority UDFA out of Rutgers. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound physical specimen tied the Scarlet Knights' school record with 20 career touchdown catches and has a massive catch-radius due to his 34-inch arms, but not a day goes by where we don't see a Saints beat writer talking about Coleman dropping a pass. He's looking like "just a guy" and a roster long shot early on.

But didn't Colston have a tough camp his rookie year as well? but then turned it on during training camp?

Re: Mike Triplett twitter

I have read that Colston had a bad OTA and TC also his rookie year.  I read that he didn't come one until after the first preseason game.  He was complaining of being tired and that TC was too much on him.  That then WR coach

Colston had a miserable mini-camp in his rookie year.. everything started clicking for him in training camp.

"It’s hard to imagine any of Drew Brees’ 5,000-yard passing campaigns happening without Colston. But he was initially viewed as a practice squad player—assuming, that is, he could overcome the poor first impression he made during his rookie mini-camp.
“He was complaining about how tired he was, how his back was hurting him, how everything was going wrong,” Johnson says. “So I just had to tell Marques, ‘You drove down here in your—whatever he had, a 1972 Cadillac—and you will be going right back to Hofstra in that 1972 Cadillac if you don’t shape up.’ And I’m telling you, ever since he’s just been a wonderful player.”

I'm not saying that Coleman will follow the same path, but let's hope someone has a talk with him that reaches him.

Yep...Colston looked like a 7th rounder his rookie year in TC...but Coleman has a history of inconsistency on the field...when he's playing well...he's playing well....and when he hits those hard can understand why he wasn't drafted...
