Ryan fired from Dallas for too many schemes

Indianapolis - One of New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan's problems in Dallas apparently was his complex and voluminous defensive schemes, according to Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones.

In a story on the Dallas Morning News website, Jones said "too many schemes" caused the Cowboys to remove Ryan and replace him with Monte Kiffin.

I could see where this could be a problem.  Hopefully Ryan will have learned from his prior mistakes as most coaches do.

Also one would think that at least this first year he will have enough of an adjustment just installing most of the basic packages.

I also think that part of his rotating schemes had to be to try and stop Vick and RG III who he would have seen in 4 games.

Rob Ryan has never been the DC on a team that made the Playoffs.
Whatever schemes he's running need to be tweaked.

To be fair, he's been the DC of the Raiders, Browns, and Cowboys.
The Raiders and Browns teams weren't real good.
The Cowboys had talent but couldn't seem to get out of their own way.

With the way the Saints offense puts up points, he just needs to field an average defense and he should have success IMO.

I remember in a quote to the media that Gregg Williams said that he had multiple [thousands] of defensive schemes he could pull out at any time against an offense...I don't believe this is why Ryan was fired...he was the scap-goat on a poor performing team...someone had to answer to Jerry Jones...and Ryan became the reason....

You may be on to something Bubba.  Jerry Jones couldn't blame their misfortunes on Jason Garret as Jason was Jerry's hand picked gem.

Ryan will help the Saints get to the playoffs and Superbowl as well. Ryan will be up for a lot of head coaching jobs next season....yes indeed.....biggrin

Playoffs-------------Yes
SuperBowl----------Hopefully
Ryan as a HC-------Never.  He is not the Face of the franchise personality.

An owner would never put him in front of the camera.

For him to be so bad, you sure do post a lot about him.

Not anymore.  You've been on a roll this past week.  What's your point?

On a roll about what?

Where did I post about Rob Ryan a lot? As for my "he sucks" comment it's pretty evident by his recent resume and coming to a team with damn near zero talent on defense the outlook ain't great.

Oh, you've just been flaming here a lot this past week.  I mean, you haven't been posting anything different.  Finding new ways in which you think you're degrading us and our team is your standard conduct.  You've just been "on a roll" lately.

To what do we owe the displeasure?  I'm guessing you're on vacation and this is the most fun thing that you can think of to do.

Boredom does play a role, I have to admit.

However, I'm not really hating, just stating my honest opinion.

I don't care for Ryan either...if that makes a difference...I personally think the Saints could have done better in choosing a DC...but I guess if Payton and Loomis thought there was someone better out there...we'd have that individual on board right now...I have a feeling this is the next closest thing to having Gregg Williams back....minus having the actual man here...same demeaner...just a different face...hindsight being 20/20....I actually like who the Cowboys picked as their DC...Monte Kiffin always gave us fits with his defenses...I have to believe that once the Niners locked down their coach's and wouldn't allow interviews...Ryan was the next best thing...still...I have to wonder about grabbing one of the Steelers coaches too...noidea

I don't care for Loomis. Having the fewest draft picks of any team over a 5 year span isn't even slightly good. The team lucked into Payton who pushed hard for Brees. I for one am fairly sick of seeing so few draft picks. It goes back to Ivan Ditka and giving away a whole year of picks plus a little from the next year, to Haslett & Clowns, Inc. giving away two mid first round picks for that Sullivan person. I KNOW Loomis was part of that second debacle. You begin to wonder what the point is in this team stockpiling picks if all they'll do is package two of 'em to move up and get that "can't miss clown".
