Brees in Pro-bowl

Sorry...no link...but heard officially on the sports news...Brees in as an alternate due to RGIII's injury...

Sorry...not the way I'd like to get in...as an alternate...fergit about it...Drew deserved to be there in the balloting...but the NFL decided it wanted to showcase one of the top rookies this season...

Stay home Drew...and take care of the wife and kids....don't play the 2nd fiddle...in a meaningless game....

But its a free trip to Hawaii. that's the next best thing to winning a free meal at Bubba's House of Shrimp, and getting a free crystal ball reading.

I think all 3 of the top vote getters deserved it more.

Friggin Matty Ice????...he hasn't done chit since he's been in the league...can't even win a playoff game...when has he thrown for 5000 yards...or have broken records as Drew has...yea...Drew threw a few more ints this season...but he basically carried the team on his shoulders...what records has Matty Ice broken...and what...14 ints this season to Drews 19....how about Drew 43 TD's to Matty's 32...Cmon man...let's be real...as bad as Drew played this season...Matt Ryan couldn't carry Drews jockstrap on his best day....

RGIII deserves to be there...NFL wanted to showcase one of the top rookies this year and he was deservingly the best of them...broke Cam's records...and took his team to the playoffs...

Won't argue about Rogers....for the same reasons Drew should be there...name recognition and statistics....

clearly Brees deserved to be there to begin with... 43 TD... 5000+ yards again

he dominated the stats in the NFL again... problem is he makes it look easy and people take him for granted

Stats and not wins. Ryan was also FAR more disciplined with the ball.

Brees HAD to throw for 5k when the D can't stop...anyone.

I think most everyone on this site knew this quality of the Saints' defense was inevitable. The whole site here was clamoring for defense for the last three years. The bastids just don't watch this website, LOL. It's like telling a self-willed brat not to run down the hall with a knife and then handing him a knife. Totally foreseen, except by the morons in charge.

If I remember correctly what the announcer said...it had something to do about total yardage...both passing and rushing by RGIII...it was brought up during the Seahawk/Redskin Wildcard game...

Ryan more disciplined with the ball????? Really????? He threw 14 int... but threw 11 less TD...  Brees threw 19 int - high no doubt... But a +24 TD to int ratio vs Ryan who had a +18

pass attempts were similar with Brees only avg 3 more pass attempts per game... Brees had a higher avg per attempt than Ryan

There's not a single person other than a Saint hater or Falcon fan that thinks Matt Ryan is anywhere near Drew Brees when it comes to QB play

RE: Brees in Pro-bowl

does anybody here think Matt Ryan gets us to 7-9 under the circumstances we faced this year?

honestly with everything that happened to us - Drew Brees played amazing...

again he's so freaking good that people take him for granted... call him a system QB...

Well the leader of the system wasn't around the team this year - Drew Brees was the system... and 43 TD later people still hate...

Re: Brees in Pro-bowl

Brees had a lot of dropped balls this year too.
But I think (I know I am making a general statement with no facts to back it up) his passes were more off target this year.  Maybe it was the pass rush, maybe it was more desparation.  Whatever it was, hopefully it gets addressed in the off season.
But I would rather have Brees then Ryan, or most of the other QB's in the league.
The pro bowl is a joke. The NFL should drop it.  I dont think many fans care about it any more.

Like I said in my earlier post...on Matt Ryans best day...he still couldn't hold Brees' jockstrap...heaven forbid the Falcons win the Superbowl....they'll be claiming that Ryan is better than both Mannings...Brady...Rogers...and Brees....when the truth is that Ryan just managed to eek himself a notch better than Romo by winning his first playoff game...

RE: Brees in Pro-bowl

Drew Brees career in the playoffs... 9 games... record of 5-4... one superbowl win and mvp (5-3 in New Orleans... 0-1 in SD)

avg yards per game 331

22 touchdowns... 4 int...

he can't play defense too!!!!! honestly nobody plays it better than Brees... it's a team game... he hasn't been on the best team - not even close... we've been competitive for one reason - Drew Brees... bottom line...

Tom Brady gets hurt and the Patriots go 11-5... we lose Brees we are looking at 3-13

Nobody does more for his team than Brees

and I'm not trying to take away from Brady...

I'm just stating the truth...

since 2006 nobody comes close to comparing to Brees in any statistical category... he flat out dominates the NFL

Yet Brees started the game.

Re: Brees in Pro-bowl

The 3 original starters were hurt and all three had replacements fill in for them...so Brees...E. Manning...and Russell Wilson are Pro-Bowler replacements...Brees got the start cuz he was next in line in votes received...that's also how Bushrod got to play in the Pro-Bowl...due to a starters injury....Jahri Evens and Thomas Morestead were starting Pro-Bowlers...Jimmy Graham would have played...but opted for his wrist surgery...

This only proves that the game is truly meaningless....give the guys accolades and an award for being voted top Pro-Bowlers and eliminate the game...total waste of time...

What I thought was funny is that they cited injuries for Wes Welker, Tom Brady and Tony Gonzalez.

Something tells me they would have been fine for the Super Bowl.
