It was reported on Yahoo too.  I don't trust them too much though.

Re: ESPN says Saints and Payton agree to 5year deal

Sean Payton and the New Orleans Saints have agreed to a five-year contract
extension, according to a league source.

The terms of the extension are
undisclosed, but may be similar to the deal that was earlier disapproved by the
league, according to a league source.

The Saints were given written
permission by the NFL to negotiate a contract extension with the suspended
Payton in November.

The extension agreed upon by Payton and the Saints
was rejected by the league because it contained a clause allowing Payton to
leave if general manager Mickey Loomis was suspended or departed the
organization.

Re: ESPN says Saints and Payton agree to 5year deal

Sean Payton has cleared the air probably to the delight of New
Orleans Saints fans as he has agreed to a multi-year contract extension in
principle to remain as head coach with the Saints, Saints spokesman Greg Bensel
confirmed Friday night.

This wipes away any speculation Payton will go
elsewhere as he will not become a free agent. Payton's original contract
extension announced in Sept. 2011 was voided by the NFL.

Payton has been
suspended for the entire season by the NFL for his alleged connection to the
Saints bounty program and the league said he was originally eligible to apply
for reinstatement Feb. 4. The league declined to comment Friday night when asked
when Payton is eligible for reinstatement despite its original date, which leads
to speculation that Payton could be reinstated before the Feb. 4
date.

Since a Saints spokesman verified the agreement...I feel comfortable that we now officially have our head coach back....for at least 5 more years of dominance in the NFC South...and the NFL all together....look out....HE'S BAAAAACK

Now all he has to do is find a defense...

I have to believe that the defense will get turned around...another season in Spags system should rememdy things...and getting a few new pieces to the puzzle to bolster our weak spots...

Of course, on the other side of the ball, it would be nice to have a running back who can average 10 yards a carry. What a relief that'd be for Brees. They'd have to play a defense as crummy as the current Saint one, though.

The Saints shoukld be looking at spmewhere between 13th and 17th.

I want DT, LBers and another S.  with the first 3 picks.

I would even be willing to move down in the first round to pick up an extra 3rd round pick.

You have a huge lack of talent on that side of the ball, Spags won't be able to do too much.

You've invested heavily in the O and with Brees being the great leader he is and demanding his ludicrous contract, have eaten up a ton of cap space.
