The Saints should jump all over this. I know he wants to go to a winner and that might not be the Saints this year, but Babin has 3 years left on his deal so this would actually be a pick for the future and not just this year.
Babin has 3 years left on his contract at around 5 million a year. He had 18 sacks in 2011 and would be a great replacement for Smith who is getting Older at a much cheaper price. At 5 million he would be a bargain and without burning a draft pick.
Waivers starts with the worst teams and go up so the Saints at 5-6 would have to have him pass several teams. Saints will pick 15th.
Who will get first crack at Babin? Here's the waiver order, according to the NFL:
1. Kansas City Chiefs
2. Jacksonville Jaguars
3. Philadelphia Eagles
4. Oakland Raiders
5. Cleveland Browns
