This is a different team with Vitt back!

Nothing against Kromer, but the Saints are playing much more aggresively on defense and they are making people respect the run again. In other words, they are the Saints again.

Just the fact that there is some normalcy with Kromer coaching the line and Vitt back, and Mickey Loomis patrolling the building, it's got to be a big help.

I always thought that the bounty thing was stupid, but I do honestly believe that Goodell was forced into it by fears of what the players union is about to lay down on the league. But it is obvious to anyone with eyes that the Saints have been made to pay for their 'crimes' with a very heavy hand. Oh well. It's just one season and as a lifer one season doesn't matter that much to me. On the other hand, there is a very finite window with guys like Brees and Colston and Pierre Thomas and you have to take advantage of it while it's there.

At least for this last seven games the Saints are going to be competitive, and if they can bring home five more wins they will get to the postseason. There's a chance, but the rough start crippled them. Still, if they can continue to play with this kind of aggresiveness and perform the way they have these last couple of games it's a goal that can be achieved.

Don't count on that last part.  The truth is that basically 5 of the playoff spots are gone.  So they are battleing for the final spot.  The Seahawks are the team to beat for that spot.  I believe the Saints can beat everyone else out.

It's so obvious Vitt is a better interim head coach than Kromer.Too bad we didn't have him for the start of the season.....biggrin

Well, Vitt himself said that it was very beneficial for him to sit and watch the way he did and evaluate the needs. Obviously what he saw was that the Saints needed to get back to Saints football, and they have.

It is not all Vitt, but a combo of factors.  New Orleans is a pressure built team.  That is what they played under Williams and what they are use to.  Spags came in and tried to get them to play his way, but they just do not have the personel to do it right now.

I believe Kromer didn't have the clout to tell Spags to make the adjustments necessary.  Vitt has that clout and is on the defensive side of the ball.  So they have started to merge the two schemes into something they can live with.

New Orleans doesn't have to personnel to just muscle people on defense, so they have to take some chances. These last three games they have looked like a totally different team over what they showed in the first six or seven games. They look a whole lot better on defense.

The last three weeks of watching our defensive play reminded me somewhat of our D back in 09...they've showed more aggression...applied more pressure...and have managed a few more takaways...not sure if it's Vitt voicing concern to Spags...Spags letting the D do what it does best...or the combo of the two....all I know is that I like what I've seen..and they're alot more effective now than in the first 4 weeks of the season....
