Jon Beason expects to be back in middle vs. Dallas Cowboys

Pro Bowl linebacker Jon Beason said he expects to remain in the middle when the Panthers face Dallas on Oct. 21 after the bye week.

Beason missed Sunday’s 16-12 loss to Seattle with shoulder and knee injuries. Rookie Luke Kuechly, the first-round pick who started in Beason’s place, had one of his best games with 11 tackles and an interception.

Beason said in no uncertain terms he wanted to stay in the middle, adding the coaching staff indicated he would.

“That’s what’s been communicated to me, so I’m sticking with that,” Beason said Monday. “ I've been playing the Mike thus far, and I don’t anticipate anything different.

well sometimes you don't get what you want Mr.Beason tongue

RE: Jon Beason expects to be back in middle vs. Dallas Cowboys

Personally, I'd like to keep Luke in the middle and IR Beason for the rest of the season. Let him come back 100% next year instead of being a question mark from week to week and being a liability on the field. Next camp let him battle with TD or Anderson for one of the outside spots. Kuechly was a monster inside and it was his first time.

I would let Beason start but i would warn him early that if he struggles he's a backup till he's ready to be a starter & let him & Thomas Davis work together on the weak side

Jon Beason or Luke Kuechly at MLB?

Jon Beason or Luke Kuechly at MLB? That’s decision Carolina Panthers must make

Both will be evaluated at middle linebacker in team’s off week, team says

Linebacker is the Panthers' deepest position on defense. In addition to Beason and Kuechly, Davis has returned strong following three ACL surgeries on his right knee.

Anderson, whose 174 tackles last season topped Beason's mark of 169 set in 2009, set a Panthers single-game record with 20 tackles in a 30-28 loss to Atlanta on Sept. 30. Jordan Senn is the special teams captain, but played well in seven starts at linebacker in 2011.

“We've got a talented linebacking corps, and that's a good problem for us

Davis looked great.  Taking nothing away from Luke but TD made one play scrapping that was the best play I've seen against the outside run all season, because it was so violent.  He scrapped, smashed a zone block and flattened the running back.

100% with JOAT on this. Why rush Beason back when he is obviously not yet ready to go full speed? Kuechly was exactly what we need in the middle. You could see he was in his comfort zone. Beason has played the OLB position before, so if you are going to bring him back, let him split time on both sides. That way he doesn't have to play every down and can come back gradually. But I do not see the sense in pulling your best linebacker so far this season out of his most natural position. The kid can get it done!
