Scout Losing Ground?

Scout Losing Ground?

I found ti somewhat perplexing, then amusing, now confusing...this whole new "scout/FOXSPORTS.com thingy. Tried to comment yesterday with "Falcons" site...4 logged on, and when I saw gmonet as one of the 4 I said...hmmmm, so I tried to comment. No can do....I need Mod approval...two days later...still no "moderator" approval. Maybe because there are no moderators! Whad'ya think? Jabber about a "new site" and maybe that is where all the fans, including or old friend iRonin, but seems we might have an anomaly here at PI.com...maybe.
Still, what say you folks about all this "ghost" site(s)? BTW...same thing kinda happened to me at the crawdad site as well.

Scout sucks, there are a handful with good admins who keep the board alive, this ain't one of them. Falcon and Bucs board haven't had publishers in a loooong time.

Re: Scout Losing Ground?

Thanks, fellas. I actually know that you know that Admins seem to be unpaid, or poorly re-imbursed moderators with a longer title.

They also seem to be fine with no content except re-hashed Observer, NFL, Panthers.com or FOX stuff. I actually find it weak when we see headers that are talking about a game, or issue that is two - three weeks old. Still, you aren't seeing many writers WAD anyway. Some have real day jobs.

Still, this site seems to be one of the few scout boards that actually has some solid regulars, topical threads and handsome/attractive participants...though we could use some more Nina's, Michele's and Donna's putting in their points. I am grateful for that.

As to the other sites, seems that even they are having issues...and at a time when this team is actually hot. I think they are all filling the stadium.
"See" you around.

It's a sad day, but it's all true. This place has been abandoned and without proper guidance, it's eventually going to go the way of the dodo bird. It's inevitable. But what to do. I can always create our own Message board / Panthers site if I can get a couple bucks from some members to pay for hosting and such (Shouldn't be much... or we can do a free site). We could transfer all the mods over to there and rebuild. I have experience in SEO and getting a website found, so it's possible. I feel like we're trying to re-populate the planet. Haha

One of the guys from the Falcon started a board that's out together well. Cana and I are already there.

I'm a mod in the Panther sub-forum.

I think they abandoned that idea, they were woefully unprepared.

Brad (BThomas) is no longer the publisher, none of us have any admin or mod privelidges anymore and it's only a matter of time before we have a spam take over.

When Joat talks of a "Panther sub-forum" I assume it is a generic site that has all teams represented? I think 'zilla tried that himself, to little success. Still, I'd visit anywhere, but really was comfortable here, even if it is somewhat stale. Some long-time members...but over the years I have seen the sites come and go. We've gotten some longevity here.
Thanks for the link.

I know it can be dead around here sometimes, but I also feel that we have a solid base of 10-20 posters who are familiar with each other and are active when they can be. I hope those of you who still post here regularly don't go away. I don't particularly like getting used to new message boards. Lol.

Also, I think it's a good thing we don't have 50,000 bandwagon fans jumping in here and posting unintelligent gibberish.

Also, even over at BUS, there are only 2 threads that have been active in the last 2 weeks and they're both similar topics to what is on our front page....we seem to be more active on this site than that one.

each NFC South team is represented there. The birds site is the most active. It's mostly guy from Falcons, Saints and Joat and myself that was on scout.

I agree.  It can get frustrating having to filter through all the garbage posts on the more popular forums.  This forum has a contingent of die-hards who know their stuff, and it makes for interesting discussion.

also, you can check out http://www.carolinapanthercoalition.com. It's a small site, but is mostly Panther talk. There is no fussin' and name calling there. Kepickle and myself invite all to at least check it out.

Re: Scout Losing Ground?

Its kind of on us, meaning me as well.  People do what they are allowed to do.  We could all very easily walk out of this virtual space and into another one where more resources and better moderation exists.  It would be as simple as creating some sort of simple as taking a "vote" of sorts.   We owe Scout no allegiance if they are going to turn this place into a wasteland with no moderation and soon to be filled with trolls (If we keep winning you'll see).

Why are there no longer moderators at this site and other Scout team sites still have moderators?

I have no issue moving. This has been home for quite a few years and it's the only forum I participate at. I came here from Panther Freaks because this is where most of that crew ended up. Wherever you guys go, I go. I just want to stick together and not have to build up a new rapport with new people, known as the new guy.

Excellent points, Stiffler715, and you only reiterate what I am saying. I do NOT want anyone to think my topic was negative about US! I am extremely happy with the small, but consistent "regulars" even when it includes the ever lurking, and thought provoking "birdy." I was just struck by the low "visits" and numbers by many of the other scout sites, and yet not surprised taking our own recent episodes over the last two-three years.

Still, I do not miss the moderation duties, for they were few and usually just to make sure that getting personal did not mean also being asinine, as some would get...me included.

Some I know just sneak in to see what's being said, and prefer to keep anonymous... that is cool too. It is just good we all know, generally, who we are talking to, even if it is not like we ever actually met!
