RE: Ginn?

Yes. He's one of the fastest guys on the field every time he steps out there. And he's a very good return man.

If your gonna stand there as a punt returner and watch the ball hit 7 yards in front of you with team mates all around it.   Then someone should tell him what a fair catch is.  Or I don't scream danger or fire or any key word to tell the other guys to get away.  not just stand there waving your arms.  When your teammates are blocking and not paying attention its the punt returners job to either fair catch a short punt or scream the key word.   So yes it is a real question.

before you critique someone else, may you should use spellcheck..... cant has a ' between the n and t.

The OP has been here a long time and offers good insight of the Panthers. Like a lot of us, he misspells stuff every know and then, but so what.

Re: Ginn?

The new guy with 1 post is clearly just trolling. Moving on from that.

As to the response about Ginn's punt return skills, did any of you see the pre-game clips of guys from both teams trying to field punts? The sun was shining so brightly and at such an odd angle that nobody (from either team) could clearly see the ball all day. They were guessing out there. Now as time went on the sun's position changed, but that doesn't mean it became much easier to see the ball. I would guess depending on the position of the punt, the angle of the sun, the direction Ginn was facing, etc. that he had a hard time reading where the ball would fall, so he just told everyone to get away instead of trying a fair catch.

Ginn is a special teams player and is a smart punt returner. I'm not about to blame his ability to make a fair catch or his decision making on that play occurring the way it did. Sometimes the ball just bounces the wrong way (or the right way for NYG).

Positively! How long has it been since we have had a serious PR player with the will to achieve and succeed this guy has. The sun was extremely bright on field, and the wind was also significant...trust me. Still, Ginn scares many ST's and I love that! He had many successes, and solid FC plays besides that early oops!

I was thinking the same thing.  We finally get a legit return man for the fist time since what? Steve Smith was returning for us? Now we need to bench him for not fielding a severely under-kicked ball?

Again, if you are gonna lay blame lay it on the guys who had a chance to down the ball and couldn't decide whether to jump on it or not.

RE: Ginn?

I agree. Honestly I think if Ginn takes the right approach and learns from Smith, at 28 years old he is a prime candidate for earning a spot as the #2 WR going forward. There is no law that says a #2 WR must be a possession WR. Ginn is savvy, a vet at this point in his career, but has 5 good years left in him. He has fantastic speed for a 28 year old who's now been in the league 7 years. He is building a relationship with Cam and he could easily be the deep threat we've needed since Smith started losing his edge. And Smith/Ginn on the field at the same time creates some nice mismatches, which we need to start exploiting. Let Ginn/Smith both play in the slots while LaFell/Olsen are on the outside.

Ginn's post routes are really good. He has Randy Moss like speed the way he can just blow by DBs without even looking like he's putting much effort into it.

RE: Ginn?

TG's performance shows we need a real speed guy on the outside. I was pleasantly surprised with Ted and look for bigger and better things from him. Now the question is was this because of the Giants or can we do this to most teams we play?

He got loose on a few plays against the Bills.  Cam only connected with him on a couple plays though.

RE: Ginn?

Yeah I don't think the question is can he get open or not with his speed. I think it is can the line give Cam enough time to get the pass off to Ginn long down the field? There was practically no pass rush from the Giants and the line did a great job giving Cam all day to throw the ball, which led to many more deep throws (as the offense is designed). However, as Seattle and Buffalo showed us, if there is any kind of pressure on Cam and he doesn't have time for the WR's to complete these long routes, then the passing game stalls with short dump off passes to DeAngelo, Tolbert, Olsen, etc.

The problem I have with the O right now is LaFell should not be running long routes at all. He simply doesn't have the speed to pull it off. He should be resigned to run 10 yard outs and ins, comeback routes, drags across the middle of the field, and slant routes. There's no reason LaFell should ever be running more than 10 yards downfield on his routes. And with the way Ginn/Smith/Olsen can get down the field, taking attention and pretty much clearing out the middle, LaFell should be sneaking in there much more often and catching short/medium passes. At least it works that way in Madden...LOL

I feel like the only time we run short routes with any of our WR's is on 3rd and 9. hahaha

RE: Ginn?

Ginn and Smith need to be the constant deep threats- AE, LaFell and Hixon need to work the intermediate and underneath stuff.

Same to you, pal. The "b" in "before" should be capitalized.
