Wharton meeting with Panthers

Wharton meeting with Panthers

 Wharton meeting with Panthers

4 p.m. update:

Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Wharton will take a physical for Carolina, but stopped short of saying the Panthers would sign him if he passes the physical.

"We brought him in, just to check and see how he is," Rivera said. "We're going to have him take a physical."

And if he passes?

"He gives us a person that's available."

I'm not opposed to signing him at all, but I like Brandon Moore...more.

I have to think he might be able to give us some stability as we try to shore up that spot...Hangartner ain't getting us anywhere, and this new guy Mobley needs time and chances. THAT is not how we want to start out the 2013 season.

I don't think anyone is looking to spend more than the vet min, and these guys are going to wait until there's a real need when they have a bargaining chip.

I'd love to get either Brandon Moore or Wharton in here to solidify the RG spot.

I don't mind Wharton, if he's healthy.  We could use all the depth we can get at guard and tackle help doesn't hurt either.
