I don't understand why the Carolina Panthers are never mentioned on sport news
shows. Every now and they say a little but, all I hear is talk about the Pats, Falcons and
the Cowboys. We have talent on this team, it just goes unnoticed.

RE: News

Why would they waste time talking about a small market team that can't figure out how to win consistently?

It's frustrating, but justified.

Funny thing is it doesnt stop ESPN from Jet talk around the clock.  How many superbowls since Joe Namath?  Same as the Panthers right?

You missed the small market part.

There's also the allure of Rex, Tebow, Revis, blah, blah, blah.

..and Green Bay would be...large market? You are right JOAT, but I think it is more than that. I think the "market media" sees us as snot nosed kids. They don't take TB or even the "new" Browns serious, and I think you all would agree they stuck their necks out for us a couple of times and got it bit off!

Until we show power, discipline and the consistency JOAT speaks of, we are just another brick in the wall!

Gmonet missed the "win consistently" part that comes along with Green Bay. Also being one of the longest tenured and most storied franchises has it's perks. Having guys like Rodgers, Clay and a couple others keeps you in the media.

The biggest peeve I have is that about 2 months ago, I started to watch NFL32 on ESPN at 5 PM.  At the beginning of the show, they make a point of saying that they cover ALL 32 TEAMS!

I've yet to hear them mention the Panthers, but they cover 31 teams everyday.  Can they not count? flushed

I agree but there are quite a few teams they ignore. How often do you hear about the Bills, Bucs, Browns, Rams, Raiders, etc.

Popular, large market and star studded teams are all they care about. They pander to advertisers, not the viewing public. However, in a trade off, they have to drive the numbers and it's easiest to hit the low hanging fruit.

Pats = winners, Falcons = winners (except playoffs), Cowboys - well, there is an exception to every rule.

If, and that's a bif if, the Panthers become consistent winners, they will get more respect and coverage. But sadly, right now, they are not winners and they get the about the same coverage as other consistent losers.

Cowboys are a huge market team, thus the attention. Add the Jerry Jones punchlines and the stories write themselves.

Actually I did not...but even when they were not winners in the almost 55 years I followed them, they still got attention and exposure. I just feel that size of venue is a minor part of the "news worthy-ness" of most teams. I never had a problem accessing photos, articles and information on the Panthers when we were "baptized," or when we were "contenders," but now we seem, as JOAT aptly states...sloppy.
But for arguments sake...maybe I did NOT make consistency a keystone in my response.

That's perfect for the reason the Falcons ARE in the news?

What do they need to not choke when it counts?

NFL32 has talked a lot about all those teams the past couple of weeks but not the Panthers.

Yesterday, they finally mentioned the Panthers but VERY briefly!
