Still about $10 million over the projected $121 million cap,

Carolina is still about $10 million over the projected $121 million cap, so there is more work to do. A big piece of the process is the expected release of veteran cornerback Chris Gamble, who has a cap figure of $10.9 million.

Anyone think that Gamble could be a surprise restructure? Wouldn't they have cut him by now? Seems like many other teams are moving forward with their cuts and if Gamble was so obvious why hasn't been done yet?

Cutting Hangman, R. Edwards, Nakamura, and Martin should save us some decent change as well.

honestly I would cut Gamble,Gross & R.Edwards & Nakamura this would free up loads of money & let us get some FA we need Now remember here is who we will lose unless we resign them
Carolina Panthers
Unrestricted free agents: Derek Anderson, QB; Antwan Applewhite, DE; Gary Barnidge, TE; Dwan Edwards, DT; Ben Hartsock, TE; Sherrod Martin, S; Captain Munnerlyn, CB; Louis Murphy, WR; Jason Phillips, LB; Mike Pollak, OL; Jordan Senn, LB

Restricted free agents: Andre Neblett, DT; Nate Ness, S

Don't want to get rid of Hangman. He's a great player coming off the bench, and is a solid starter. Plus he's not expensive. Really want to keep him.

I know the pace has been slow so far but we have a new GM. It looks like he is taking his time and doing it right so far. This guy has to deal with the cap mess, evaluate new players (a whole team) and start making room for new contracts around the corner. So far he is quietly fixing the cap and leaving options open, good for him. Hopefully it will speed up soon but we still have more than a few contracts that need to be reworked.

Not a Hang fan. That dude gets owned. We could easily do better.

well let be clear up something I don't think Hangman is a great starter at RG or even center In fact we could do a lot better for a starter but as a backup or someone who can fill in for 1 or 2 games I like Hangman Now if we cut him we wouldn't save much infact there are others i dislike more & would be clearly save us cap room

RE: Still about $10 million over the projected $121 million cap,

Another easy 6 mill from: add how it will impact team
- Onatolu 775K (min impact)
- Nakamura 1.3 mil(DJ Campbell cheaper option +Draft)
- G Williams 1 mil (Campell +Draft)
- R Edward 2 mil(Signed Cole+Draft)
- Gettis 600K( no impact never got on field)
- Fua 500K( no impact/Kearse or UDFA fill PT void )

These would be logical very low impact moves...

Would put us a 4 over with Williams/Big Money/Gross/Beason to restructure options
Plus Gamble restruct or cut...

agreed with the above & with detailed cuts we could be 15 to 20 mil above cap
