Gross has chance to act like a team Capt

Gross has chance to act like a team Capt

Gross can show his loyalty to the team and still get paid.
- New GM will talk to all of the high paid
- Gross is 33 and has 2 years left on his contract (35 when it is all done)

Do you want to retire a Panther????  If you do work with then on a Cap friendly extention.  Gross is till considered a top 10 OT, but 2012/2013 draft will add some young guys climbing up the OT rating later.

- A 35 year old OT is not going to get a huge payday. God forbid there is any kind of injury in the next 2 years to that would drop his 35 year old new contract even more.

Will Gross work an extention to retire as a Panther and help the team cap???  That could save team 4-5 mil if done right.....  Plus dramaticly increase his chance of a playoff run with the Cats at LT or RT before he retires.  He can look to mentor a young rookie Barret Jones or other... and never miss a snap and go down as the Oline in Fran history.. (Kalil is still young)

As mad as I get at him for all the false starts at the worst times, I hope he retires a Panther.

Re: Gross has chance to act like a team Capt

kepickle has it right. The fact that Gross has taken what we offer should indicate his loyalty, his belief that he is getting a fair shake, and that he knows the organization wants him around until it's over fro him.

On and off the field he's a spokesperson for the team and has tried to put the best angle on losses that were worse than humiliating.

I also concur with CANA...if it was a FS, particularly in the post SB era, #69 was the call and always at a 3rd and inches or 3rd and goal. I remember one game #69 has 3 in a row, one being a holding. flushed

We've all been frustrated at him at times, but he really is a shining example of a team player.  Both on the field and in the community.  Just a good man.  It would be a shame to see him in anything other than a Panthers uniform.

I won't be the least bit surprised to see him in the Panthers front office in the very near future.
