my 2013 draft wish lift

I tried posting this on the draft forum and didn't get a response....so here goes....

round 1, ideally i'd love to trade back and grab a third, but i don't know how possible that is so i'll assume we stay put.
(anyone of these three would be great)
Chance Warmack- OG
Eric Fisher-OT
Keenan Allen-WR
i know that Defense was atrocious this year, but OL and WR imo were just as bad, Gross needs to be moved to RT and we need a quality RG, maybe even a LG as well.  the jury is still out on silitolu(?)

round2
DeAndre Hopkins-WR, honestly I hope we don't draft WR in first and he falls to us here.  I'm a die hard Clemson fan, so I watched this guy all year.  He was unstoppable against LSU and most opponents
Eric Reed-S
Tyler Efert-TE

I agree with the O-line needs the most attention. I wouldn't mind using half of our draft picks on the O-line. Then the DB position and then a WR.

2013 NFL Mock Draft 1.0 By Mel Kiper Jr.

http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl...irst-mock-draft

14
Sheldon Richardson *
COLLEGE: Missouri
AGE: 21
HT: 6-4
WT: 295
POS: DT

Analysis: The Panthers hit a home run with their first pick in 2012 when they landedLuke Kuechly, and Richardson brings a little bit of what Kuechly does at linebacker, but on the defensive line. Richardson made an unusually high number of tackles from the defensive tackle position because he has a quick burst off the snap, shows great strength in short-yardage situations and knows how to use his hands to get off blocks and make plays. The guy can even drop into coverage and will destroy screen plays. Carolina may need help at wide receiver, but the Panthers really need to strengthen the D-line as well.

I'm still having nightmares about the last Missouri Defensive Tackle we took high.

Re: 2013 NFL Mock Draft 1.0 By Mel Kiper Jr.

we have tacklers. we need someone to eat blockers

I don't know anything about the guy, but if we go DT, he needs to clog the middle for Luke and co. to  run free

Don't like the pick...  I think we need a NT sized guy 320-350 Lbs dude.  The guy needs to replace Ron Edwards.  We need to resign Dwan Edwards instead of drafting this guy and get a space eating guy this year with a DT pick.

Re: 2013 NFL Mock Draft 1.0 By Mel Kiper Jr.

I see where this pick went....

so i ask
Why not have an ATTACKING Defense Line?
Why MUST we have a space eater?

If we blitzed more with our LBs i could see a reason for needing that BIG HOG but we don't we Rely on our front 4 to get pressure on the QB. So i would like to add another ATTACKING DT to pair with dwan vs a FAT guy that shows our hand.

"Oh there bringing the Big guy in..there blitzing the LBs"

I just want to see more Pressure up the middle to QBs off there spot and prevent them from stepping up in the pockets.

Sounds like he would make a better 3-4 DE , I have not watched him enough to really form an opinion of him ....

WHY spend a 1st or 2nd pick on a BIG fat guy just to take up blockers It never worked well when we had Kemo but FRANK KEARSE weights 315 & Patriots waived DT Ron Brace a few weeks ago & he's 350 heck thats not what we are talking about we need a 3-4 end type to line up at DT & Attack

my point why spends a high pick on a guy who can't rush the QB there are a avaible in FA for

There Will be lots of DL who weight the 320's teams like the Cowboys & maybe Chargers will switch to a 4-3
if all we are looking for is run stopers I'd they are avaible in FA we just have to be willing to sign them or we can draft them mid or late

i don't know about this guy particularly but I do agree that we need pressure on the QB from the line more than we need a person to just take up space. A guy who can rush the QB is a guy the OFFense has to try to occupy and that is how you keep the LB's clean. I mean if we just needed a fat guy to take up space I would come in way under the cap.

I just don't see a DT making that much difference to us next year. I love defense and I agree it is an area to upgrade but I put in on par with DBs and WRs. It would be great to get serious talent in these areas but not when an area on our team is so bad it puts into harm our most valuable player at this point...Cam. We have one above average OL that spent the year on IR and one that used to be but clearly isn’t anymore. The rest are backups at best and it showed all year. I am hoping a LT is what falls into our lap because we need it the most. This OL has to be rebuilt, if Cam goes down it doesn’t really matter who is on the defense.

trent dilfer begs to differ.D is our biggest need and has been for at least 2 years. oline can be addressed in later rounds.

Our DTs are not great but the difference between the line units was obvious during games. If there is a good LT we would be insane to pass that up. It's way early in the process but I thought this year was deep in DTs.

Quoting Dilfer isn't really carrying your case but I agree with the need just not the level, yet.

Dilfer carried my case to a SB win. We cannot put off Bolstering the D. I agree there is depth at DT which is why we can address the secondary  in the first 2 picks as well.

Dilfer was a pathetic QB on the last purely defensive team to win a SB, maybe ever until rules change again. Even Brad Johnson could complete a pass. Just saying.

I just think we can find a stud DT in the 2nd but the chances of finding a LT in any round but the 1st is slim. I think if we keep the DT rotation we had this year one guy could bring a lot of stability to the position, I just don't see why it has to be with the first pick.  Our OL was infective and that is not just going to get better next year without major change to that unit. I don't even know if a LT will be available but I would be very happy seeing us go that way.

If Richardson can play standing up (DE) THEN he would be one more heck-of-a-pick! Would also like to see us sign at least one of our DT's from this past season. Get Kearse to 322-325lbs and let this train roll. We will be ready by August. Mark it down!

with Johnson and Hardy at DE, I can't see us drafting a DE with our first pick
