Derek Anderson says he's returning to Cleveland
"Looks like it is time to make a return to a familiar place for some unfinished business," Anderson posted on his Facebook page one day after Chudzinski was named Browns coach. "I'd be honored to return to Cleveland to play football if the fans would have me."http://news-herald.com/article...wmode=fullstory

Re: Derek Anderson says he's returning to Cleveland
I thought he was a good QB, and was happy that he was backing up Cam. Can't blame him though.... best of luck

Re: Derek Anderson says he's returning to Cleveland
Now we need to find a reliable back-up!!!
if anyone says they trust Clausen has the back-up,than they must not have watched any Panther games in 2010

Re: Derek Anderson says he's returning to Cleveland
What sensible fan would not want a stand up guy like Anderson to back up and advise your starter?
As for us, that does mean we need to release Clausen too. There might be a need to look for a "quiet" vet, like Anderson, but then it all seems like we cut our arms off to spite our fingers. I mean we certainly had little to benefit from keeping JC, and now we still have to find a similar QB to Anderson. With a mobile and active guy like Cam, you sure better have a serious strong BU to assure continuity in case of an injury, no matter how brief the need. Poor DA had less than a series in that game. We can only wish Derek the best...he was one of the greats we had, and yet most kids did not recognize, or acknowledge him at Wofford. He just went out practiced hard, always ready to go in.

From what I have seen, JCs salary is a sunk cost. We pay him is full salary if he is on the roster or not. If we cut him, we must pay him and the new guy. Not something I see a new GM doing. I am not a fan of JC at all during his "deer in the headlight" season. Just not sure we can afford to let him go if $$ are guarenteed. I can see us picking up a late round mobile QB who makes the practice squad. We will need to make JC work for his money. If by mid season he has proven he can't handle a snap without fumbling, then let him go. Other option would be to trade him for a 6th or 7th rd pick part way through season.

How about Josh Johnson. (Played for TB awhile back). He is only 26, 6'3 and would be a cheap backup.

Jesus Christ. just to be clear, I was not implying that Edwards was better than Cam,I am not that crazy. I was simply saying he could be a possible back-up becuase of his starting experience.

I like Dennis Dixon also......but I have a feeling Chip Kelly will bring him to Philly.
