What will Jerry do today??

Do you think Jerry will do anything today by releasing any of the coaches or players? I thought nothing else would happen till the end of the season, but after yesterdays game, I wouldn't be surprised now.

Re: What will Jerry do today??

Like kepickle, I believe we are settling in to the cold winter, satisfied that, for now, the organization has shown it plans to make serious changes...all in one basic act; releasing Hurney in the middle of the season. It was bigger than many might have believed.

I do feel the last game showed that Rivera might stay on, but he's not got much standing. Morale is so low, Williams and prolly even Smith wonder why they are here. Half the once powerful OL is misplaced or misinformed, and not one coach seems to have a clue. Why stop a bus that has four flats and is still moving?

I think the team could handle Rivera being fired. I would be okay with promoting Chud or McD. We just need a HC that has some shred of time management skills and a back bone.

Put the entire organization on notice, from Riveria down to the kids who sell popcorn, that he is MAD and doesn't have to take it anymore and if there is no improvement next week then they are all at risk of losing their jobs.

I noticed that he sat alone in the guest team suite. When he is alone, that usually means quiet...and that usually does not last long. He did not get where he is tolerating slipshod performance for very long...once angered.

Re: What will Jerry do today??

That's rational kepickle. He certainly will not need Rivera come that last game. I regret it prolly will end this way. I sorta hoped McD could get a turnaround, and the D has improved, but marginally. So a clean house will not sit well with players and we'll surely lose many to FA and releases, but I hope we can keep a core. I am sure that "core" will vary from one fan to another, but new management should mean solid fresh approaches. That will likely sit less comfortably with the seasoned Panthers than the new guys like Keuchly.

ALSO NOTE : DT Ron Edwards
7/29/2011: Signed a three-year, $8.25 million contract. The deal included a $2.5 million signing bonus. 2012: $1.5 million (+ $250,000 roster bonus), 2013: $2.15 million (+ $350,000 roster bonus), 2014: Free Agent

I hope we keep Anderson, and Edwards. Senn did a good job last year, but I haven't seen him on the field much this year. Applewhite also did good last year, but has been hurt most of this year.

I read earlier that Dwan was here on a two year deal.

RE: What will Jerry do today??

1. I don't care if every one of those players is on a different team next season. More money to use on better free agents.

A little off topic here, but it relates to someone who should be fired.

2. My main gripe with this offense/coaching staff is that everything goes SO slowly. The plays take a long time to develop and the WR's run routes that don't lend to getting open quick enough when the OLine can't hold their blocks. But that's not even the main reason I hate the current coaching staff. I'm not sure if it's the complexity of the play calls or just the dumbasses needing to "think" about what the next play is they're going to call. But WHY OH WHY does it ALWAYS take until 9 seconds left on the play clock before the Offense is lined up properly!?!?!

This only gives Cam a small amount of time to read the D and react, call an audible, etc. Any plays that incorporate shifts in the formations are tricky because you're down to 3 seconds and Cam is clapping his heart out trying to get the center to snap the damn ball! And of course, the defense has the advantage if you're snapping every ball with 1 second left on the clock because they can feel free to fly off the line knowing if they are not called for a penalty and the ball isn't snapped, it's because of a delay of game.

Not to mention the incredibly unacceptable amount of times this season where the Offense needed to call a time out late in the play clock because they didn't get the call in time, and the clock was running out. It's UNACCEPTABLE. Period. It's not because Cam is so young and needs experience. It's because either the O-Coordinator of whomever is calling the actual plays isn't doing his job and needs to be fired. There's no reason, NONE, that this is happening every damn play of every damn game!

Every other team in the league that runs a successful offense is up at the LOS out of the huddle with plently of time for the QB to survey the D and make adjustments.

That has to be the most frustrating part of the experience when watching a Panthers game. Does anyone else know why this might be happening all the time? Is it be design?

Falcons fan: What worries me? That one day Cam will grow up and become a leader of men, focus on others instead of himself, and show courage.

It is Chud doing this crazy crap. Just let Newton learn a actual NFL play book.
No college plays. Get rid of all run option plays because it barely works.

I don't want to get rid of the read option altogether, but even RGIII said it was effective "sprinkled in" and not as a base offense.

I blame Chud for our offensive woes from Cam to the OL to the RB's.
