Rivera Must Be Facing The Facts
By now, the writing is on the wall. We know it, he knows it and likely his AC's have to know they are expendable. I give McDermott a slight pass, but we need to dump the idea of another guy with no serious HC record. This is sad. There is NO telling who, but someone tell me why he/they stay? This is not how it was to be.

No point in firing anyone at this point.
However, retreads rarely work out. I'd rather get another up and comer who is currently a coordinator.

He is a former player, and yet seems to take losses as a seasonal thing. I am sure that "conversation between Mr. Richardson & myself" was just along that way. He said he felt "safe" at that point. There have enough demoralizing factors right now, losing the HC is not getting us anything.

There's really just no benefit to firing anyone now. Not to mention, Rivera is a D guy, what is he supposed to do with the offense? Tell Chud to do better?
Wait for the end of the season and hire Norv Turner, he was a very good OC.

Clausen is garbage, I doubt anything would have helped him. kepickle wrote: Jackofalltrades1977 wrote: No point in firing anyone at this point.

Seeing what we get at every game, they all must go IMHO. I have to go watch us play the Eagles and actually hoped we might be able to play them even.

D played a very good game today, especially considering who was and wasn't on the field. Our team has done a 180 from last year.

I honestly don't have a problem with the ST unit, they got completely screwed three, maybe four times on that TD.
D gets a B
ST gets a B-
O gets an A, for Are you fugging serious?

I think with Rivera its the case of guilty until proven innocent once hurney was fired. There is absolutely no way in hell a new GM keeps him.

Re: Rivera Must Be Facing The Facts
I agree with Realguyjeff, if you are going to ask for serious money to re-do BOA you better have some game plan to fill the dang thing. If I were JR I'd make the fact known that cleaning house involves GM & coaching staff, though I do think the D's gotten better, still it has issues.
I heard some names thrown around in the post game show on CBS, but did not know any of them. Info from anyone appreciated!

Richardson was approached by the city counsel to talk about upgrading the stadium, not the other way around.

RE: Rivera Must Be Facing The Facts
Rivera had that look on his face yesterday. That look of my azz is **** canned.
New GM equals new HC. With a new HC you can kiss most all of this staff goodbye. Which won't hurt me one bit. They all are below average at what they do.

Re: Rivera Must Be Facing The Facts
I wouldn't fire Rivera midseason but Chud I would punt right now. Shula has been an OC(not good though) so he could serve in the interim. I think all of the option stuff would go out the door with Chud and Shula would run a more conservative run, run, playaction and I think that would help right now. Stop being cute and get back to basics. Run our RB's out of an I-form with you know a fullback. I might be asking too much here but maybe move the pocket some with called roll outs and bootlegs. Let Cam get reps under center and the other things he needs to get better at instead of trying to sidestep developing him. Let our running backs take some pressure off of him and let him improve and gain confidence back Since the postseason is WAY out the window the rest of the season should be used to help develop our franchise QB. The last 2 weeks we ran a more traditional offense and he looked much better than trying the ALL college route. Chud reverted back yesterday, he obviously can't help himself. So he needs to go. NOW. I look at us now like what happened with Freeman/Tampa last year. Last year Freeman was terrible, this year he's doing great. Coaching makes a huge difference. We do not have the receivers or the Oline to run what Chud is trying to do here...the sooner he goes the better.

Re: Rivera Must Be Facing The Facts
We've all been talking about how the offense needs to get more traditional for weeks. I'm starting to wonder... don't you think the coaching staff knows this? There has to be a reason they aren't doing it aside from the fact that they are being dumb. I'm starting to wonder if it's a problem with Cam.

There has to be a reason they aren't doing it aside from the fact that they are being dumb. I'm starting to wonder if it's a problem with Cam. probably the fact that the entire offense has been developed to be smoke and mirrors, and the players and coaching staff have rarely practiced in more traditional (pro) sets. cam hasn't been developed to be a more traditional QB with a scrambling demeanor, as he should have been. it appears newton's first two years have largely been a waist as there is no chance this offense will resemble anything it looks like, right now, in the future. hopefully soon cam will be developing skills that he should have been working on religiously for the past 1.5 years. it would have been nice to have a more experienced coaching staff for our franchise qb coming into the NFL as well. it's obvious trying to learn on the fly (IE broncos game) is a recipe for disaster and probably is setting newton back some. i really blame the staff on this one. we are now having to use the 2nd half of this season on offense to "practice" a lot of things that should have been the norm for a successful team. the sad thing is there is little, to no, chance said staff will even be a shell of itself next year. which begs the question how committed are they really? hopefully rivera understands he is "playing" for future job openings now.

When we have run a more traditional offense Cam has looked better so that tells me he is fully capable of doing it. Cam is a faster version of Big Ben who was helped out by playing for the Steelers who ran the ball ALOT ot protect him while he developed. Last year we ran alot more playaction and roll out passes that Cam looked great at. Never underestimate coaching arrogance. Everyone in the NFL knows that when the Eagles give McCoy the ball they are a much better team and stats show they win more. Andy reid still has them throwing it 50 times a game. Chud is in the same club with Mike Martz right now,
