Odd signing by Pantys
Panthers signed RB Mike Tolbert to a four-year contract. Let the Jonathan Stewart trade speculation begin. Tolbert is an adept short-yardage runner and big contributor in the passing game, but his signing is curious for a team that already has Stewart, DeAngelo Williams and Mike Goodson under contract. Regardless of whether or not Stewart is retained, Tolbert should be in for far fewer snaps than he played in San Diego, and may not even be a consistent goal-line option with QB Cam Newton thriving in the role last year. A fringe fantasy option outside of PPR leagues last season, Tolbert could have a hard time finding value in 2012.
Wow. Really didn't see this one coming as Carolina has 3 decent options at RB already. Real head scratcher.

Tolbert isn't going anywhere near 1000 yards. The guy is going to suck just like the rest of the panties. how do you say "We Suck" in Tokyo?

Re: Odd signing by Pantys
So let me see...
Williams had like 850 yards on just about 150 carries last year, Goodson had caught 60 passes in 2009 just as a third-down COP back, and Cam is fully willing to vulture all the TDs.
With Stewart in his final contract year with injury issues, this has to spell the ending of him there. There is absolutely no other reason they need Tolbert, nor I do think they really needed him even if they get rid of Stewart, where they'd probably get a 2nd rounder to get the depth/prospect to add to an already plenty capable running team, and be able to fill needs elsewhere.
The Panties have more of an identity crisis at RB than an awkward 13 year old girl.

Most agree Mike Goodson is gone, Tolbert also gives some insurance if Stewart does leave.
I wasn't a big fan of it initially, but it makes sense.

I wasn't a big fan of it initially, but it makes sense. Hmmm...Goodson is cheap and young...stewart is the same for now. Cam rushes like a RB on a 1\3 of the plays. Seems like not enough to go around. Why not just burn a late pick in the draft rather than add a expensive FA? D will sucks. he is the one that needs to go.

He's a guy that Rivera and Chud are familiar with. As far as enough to go around, that isn't they're concern.
How does DWill suck? Check his stats for the last several years and add in that he's very good in blocking as well.

Re: Odd signing by Pantys
It was an odd signing. The only thing that makes sense with it is a backup for Stewart for if he leaves.

Also, given his value on ST's and how pathetic that unit has been for a while now it makes sense.

RE: Odd signing by Pantys
4 quality RBs on one roster when you can just snag one in the late rounds of the draft is a waste of time and money. It isn't necessary to have one stud RB (which none of those on your roster are unless you think Stewart is) anymore in the NFL. I "Guess" i can see the move from a Special Teams standpoint but paying good money to a FA RB for him to play STS is dumb. Much cheaper options in the draft.
Joat, maybe you see it as a wise move but its pretty dang dumb from my pov which is worht exactly what you paid for it. NIL

Goodson traded to Oakland to be the no 2 back there. Makes more sense i reckon. Didn't get much in return it looks like. OL Bruce Campbell came to Charlotte in return. He was projected a 1st round pick because of pure measurables a few years ago, and has been a pine warmer in Oaktown.
