Falcons & 49rs top suitors for Revis

Sources tell the Daily News that the 49ers and Falcons are both interested in trading for Darrelle Revis.

When the trading period opens on March 12, the Jets are expected to strongly consider the best offer for Revis. "He's gone," a Daily News source said Tuesday. "This is happening. They're moving him. They can't keep him. They're rebuilding. They're starting fresh." The suitors have reportedly made it clear that they are willing to part with draft picks and give Revis the new long-term deal he wants despite his ACL tear. At this point, it would be a major surprise if we ever see him in a Jets uniform again.

Now we are cooking with fire!

I wouldn't mind him in a 1 year deal but no way would I take him long term, I know he's the best corner in the NFL, bur I can't justify paying 15+ for anyone but a QB or maybe the best OT or DE.

You would also get pick compensation if he leaves....

I don't know how I feel about this.

If healthy he's unquestionably the best DB in the league and a top 5 D player. However, coming off the knee injury, knowing who fickle he is with contract demands and what you would have to give up it would be hard to actually quantify his actual cost.

If TD thinks he's the missing piece, then I think you roll the dice, but with the holes at DL now I don't see this being a very good thing.

The last Defensive Jet we traded some high picks for wasn't too shabby...

He is one of the best D players in the league when healthty, and until last year that wasn't questionable. In this league of pass happy, i could see it.

I thought some of you wanted Jackson to be your RB. I don't think you can afford both, Jackson and Revis.

GM Thomas Dimitroff "downplayed" the Falcons' trade interest in Jets CB Darrelle Revis Wednesday.
According to ESPN's Ed Werder, Dimitroff is planning to focus on Atlanta's bevy of in-house free agents. That's all good and well, but "downplaying" is not the same as denying. One of the league's most aggressive, forward-thinking GMs, we don't doubt for a second that Dimitroff is at least exploring a run at the NFL's best corner.

I didn't say they don't matter, too many people don't understand the nuances of the cap and how easily it can be manipulated.

So most folks don't know you can play God with the cap. Got it.

Most folks just take the media's sensationalized word on cap situations and don't give league GM's and cap guru's any credit for being good at their jobs.

To put it metaphorically - Mechanic says your car is broke down, you assume that means it's now a junker that will never again move on it's own, forget that mechanics can fix problems.

Sell it to a Mexican, they'll find a way to "fix" it.

i doubt dimitroff would trade away more high picks for a player right after trading them away for julio.

Why Not? If we resign Tony and trade for Revis, what else do we need that we can pick up in the middle to late rounds. I'd draft Revis with my first round pick, i don't know about you.
