Umm, yes... What? How the hell did that happen? Seems like the problem has been with the whole D, not just him, and guy is uber-talented. He had a boatload of sacks last year.

Definitely seems like one of those guys that finds a new home and revives his career.

Get er done TD!!

Hmm 10 yrs. in ...maybe a lil long in the tooth. I guess it depends on the $ & length of contract he's seeking.

RE: Jason Babin released

He isn't that good. AJC says we have no interest. I would rather see the young guys get after it. Anyone notice who played most other than Bierman last game?

He played a wide 9 spot running relentless to the QB every play. Not what we need. I don't think he plays the run at all. He had plenty of chances to rush the qb, that secondary is terrible. And they got rid of Asante?! Great talent evaluators.

I say we play the Saints thursday night and then sign him afterward.  That'd give him a little extra time to get acquainted.  He shouldn't cost hardly anything and we can just use him on 3rd and long situations.  Better use of a roster spot than Chase Coffman.

If we sit back & don't sign him, it will come back to haunt us.  He'll sign with someone else and hurt us next time we face him. We need another stout pass rusher... as good as Biermann is, he is small & gets pushed around at times. Either we do this or start giving Massaquoi & Matthews more snaps.....but i'm all for getting Babin if he is cheap for extra help, especially in the playoffs.

Cane, where you been man? Got the Falcons Nest back going over at Big Ugly and definitely want you to join us.

Bad news here is the AJC reported that Falcons will not pursue Babin. They actually didn't the first time either, and it sounds like character concerns might be why.... Cmon TD, we've got a strong enough locker room now that it's more likely he falls in line than is a cancer.

Could really use him to make offenses actually fear our pass rush outside of Abe.

Re: Jason Babin released

I have been stretched out man. I don't get here much.  i'm trying to get back now.. I been busy making a little falcon! lol! wink

I don't put much stock in Bedwetter. I have seen other reports saying Babin is visiting us. So i don't know,  we will just have to wait & hope i guess.  The postition we are in now, we would be foolish not to get him & foolish for him not to come here. He is better than all our DE's outside of Abe..big upgrade for us. Biermann is a good player, but his size hurts him at times. Babin hasn't had the sacks this year, but watching the eagles games, he still has a good motor and he was getting pressure. i think a totally disaster of a team is alot of his troubles right now. Here, he would just be a rotation guy & always fresh. I think our lockerroom could handle him.

lmao, jaguars claimed him off waivers.  8 teams put in a claim for him so there was zero chance we were ever going to get him, but it's gotta suck for him to be going to jax.   cool

RE: Jason Babin released

It would have been stupid to pass on Babin for the Falcons. You have no one to get pressure other than Abe and he's proven to be a very effective pass rusher. On top of that, his age shouldn't really matter given the fact that you're headed for the play offs and need all the weapons you can get on defense before your window closes. Lastly, with the implications of his meager contract you could easily just use him as a rotational guy while getting young guys some reps.

However, he didn't get past your ol' favorite Mularky in the waiver process.

One has to trust in Nolan/Hamilton's judgement especially in personnel decisions.
I think tap50 is spot on... Washburn's Wide 9 scheme, by design, allows for gaudy stats relative to sacks. Babin's production is Fool's Gold.

We'll have to "dance with who brung us" this far into the season now unless some superstar gets dropped ( not bloody likely ).

They only ran the Wide 9 starting last year, that leaves a lot of sacks unaccounted for.

I think someone will step up for us. Look at it this way, for the past 3 years at the DE spot opposite Abe, it couldnt' get much worse. Matthews getting some snaps? Him or Sid still could break out!
