That was a hire that really made me scratch my head...

Never a good sign when you "steal away" a coach or player, and the team you're taking them from are happy about it.

That said, my guess is he got the job because of how well he did at bringing Ryan along, and they wanted him to do the same with Gabbert. I think it's clear now though that he's either a long-term project, or more likely they just need to go in a different direction.

Man, they sure installed his O down to a T , I shuddered in horror watching the game last nite, was deja vu, playcalls and routes exactly the same .......disbelief

That team's a mess, has been for quite awhile now. The owner wants to bring in Tebow to sell some seats.
I could see them in L.A. in a couple of years.

Ryan was a good QB out of BC, Gabbert was average and it would take phenomenal coaching to get Gabbert to Ryan's level.

Everyone knew they would suck at the beginning of the season, but once MJD went down they lost all hope of doing anything. It'll be interesting to see how they handle a top 3 pick with the QB situation.

Blackmon has been a real turd as well ....Gabbert reminds me alot of Harrington, but you know if he had landed with another team he might have had a chance .I see the Carr/Harrington syndrome in his future .......noidea

He would have had to have gone to a team with a great QB coach, or somewhere like SF under Harbaugh, IMO.

While I'm not a Gabbert fan per se, I think the jury's still out on this kid...time will tell.
He got thrown out there on a miserable team with no weapons and a lame coach. Now add NO OTAs as a rookie coming in because of the lockout and you have a recipe for disaster - imo. If his psyche isn't damaged, there's still plenty of potential for him I suppose.

nah, he's afraid to get hit.  He's never going to be a good QB.  last year when we played them you could just tell he didn't have it.  He was curling up in the fetal position as soon as the ball was snapped.  Wasn't even trying to make a play.  He doesn't want to be on the field.

Shell-shocked by week 14... easily understood really.
It's a loooong way from the wide-open, spread attack comfort zone vs. the Big 12's excuse for defense and the NFL.
