Re: Other games - Week 5, ....

PHI-PIT should be a good game. Philly is 3-1 but it's a shaky 3-1; Vick has 4 TD and 6 INT.

There should be a few blowouts - GB-IND, ATL-WAS, BAL-KC, SF-BUF, MIN-TEN could all be pretty one-sided.

Chargers at Saints should be good too, I don't think the Saints are as bad as their 0-4 record indicates and, playing at home with their backs to the wall, this could be the week they strike back.

This week might well be another tough game for the Jets, ...

Oops ... yeah ... I forgot to add that to the "potential blowout" list. A savage home loss for the Jets on MNF will be "interesting."

A lot of close games. Skins leading the Falcons is a huge surprise. Really expected the Raven to crush KC - kind of amazing they're still in it with so many T/O.

Friggin' Ravens win again - oh well, their luck won't hold.

Colts may pull out a win against the Pack, did not see that coming either.

Re: Other games - Week 5, ....

Cassel is/was a product of the Pats system and the players he had to throw to. Without those elements, he's above-average and that's all.

I really like Romeo Crennel, but he's just not HC material. Which isn't necessarily a knock on him, you can be a great OC or DC and a mediocre HC.

Beating the Jags and Bills isn't exactly a show  of force, but they're both looking a lot better than expected.

Saints trying real hard to start the season 0-5.

Chargers do what they do best - choke in the clutch. Saints finally win a game.

Just saw that Cassel suffered a concussion today against the Ravens. Not sure if that's good or bad for the Chiefs - Brady Quinn could be ... not awful.

If the Jets can play this well against the Texans, I'm pretty sure the Patriots can hang at least 31 on them and win.

Jets are averaging about a yard per carry so far - a far cry from what the Pats offense will try to do.

The texans always wet themselves when they face the jets. They should learn from the packers last night. They got riches of players on defense. Its ridiculous.Thats gonna be a test to see where thus team is at when our team plays them at home.

Tough time to throw a pick, ... Rex's face looked kinda strange, sorta like fighting off a stroke. Wonder if Tebow might just see some time here?

Ahhh ... Mancheese with the red-zone pick again I see.

Jets with 44 yards rushing in 17 carries. Uh. Not good.

If HOU could just finish a few drives this one would be over already.

The jetsies gave a good effort.Their defense actually played well.A big time Qb would have driven them to a win.Sanchez cannot read a blitz. The texans played awful.I hope the packers beat them this week coming up.

Re: Other games - Week 5, ....

If you remove Tebow from the stats the Jets rushed for less than 3 y/c. That won't get it done. And it sure won't get it done against the Pats - Spikes, Hightower, Vince, and Love will kill them.

Score should have been more like 38-10 if the Texans played anywhere close to decent. Rex's D came to play but his O is nowhere close to good enough. You can always count on Sanchez to throw picks at the worst moments.

Foster devoured Rex's defense - I think they're the ranked as the worst rushing D in the league this year. I shudder to think what the Pat's 4-headed monster will do in two weeks.

I give Rexy credit for going for it on 4th a couple times. That took some guts. But there's no depth on his team - once the salary cap went back in and they couldn't load up on expensive FA's, that was it.

I think the Jets Cap Free year strategy was a decent one – load up on 1 year contracts or trade for players with 1 year left and see who works out.  It would have worked if they could have simply not resigned at least one of the big money players.  Guys like Holmes and Cromartie were signed at the expense of solid players who could have helped while leaving cap room for depth.  Instead they really competed against themselves for Holmes and they also went after Nnamdi (not to mention resigning Sanchez to a whopper of a deal when they didn’t have to).  Meanwhile, they had solid players who were signing on with other teams or being asked to take a pay cut.  That one short off-season did more to hurt Jet momentum than anything I could think of.

Having said that, this team is a big ball of going against expectations.  When they’re on a roll and are favored, they typically lose.  When expectations are bottomed out, they win.  Clearly they favor being underdogs which is another must-fix for Rex on top of his love for highlighting the top talent on his team (which I think he is already self-correcting).

They also don't win the games they must win. Last night was such a must-win game. This week when the Colts come to town is absolute must-win and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Colts win.

Looks like ex-Pat Mark Anderson hurt his knee Sunday. Will miss "significant time" is the word.
