Re: Official Game 2 thread: Patriots vs. Cardinals
I don't know what to say about this game, not really to familiar with the Cards other then the 2 WRs Fitzgerald and Doucet, the TE Heap and James Sanders and Rhodes at S. Anyone know who's starting at QB for them? Is it Skelton or Kolb?

Re: Official Game 2 thread: Patriots vs. Cardinals
I guess Skelton has an ankle injury, so it'll likely be Kolb. He's 21 TD/22 INT for his career - so the secondary could get a few picks off him.
Cards only got 43 yards on the ground against the Seahawks, which should mean the Pats can stuff the run as well.

Kolb is not a world beater, but if he has time he will destroy the Pats secondary. Pressure, Pressure, Pressure or this game will be closer then it needs to be.

Re: Official Game 2 thread: Patriots vs. Cardinals
Some things to watch.. how will the Patriots defend Fitzgerald? Will Ridley follow up on his great game one performance with another one? Will Welker be more involved in the offense this week? And will the OL do a better job of protecting Brady this week.

Re: Official Game 2 thread: Patriots vs. Cardinals
Always worried about Fitz, guy is a hell of a receiver. Im hoping the Run D/O continues the way it was last week. Was very impressed with the way the Pats did on both sides of the ball there.
I still think the Pats will run into giving up chunks of yards here and there via the passing game as teams still have to try and keep pace with the offense, with run stuffing like they had last week expect that secondary to be tested even more. Hopefully the pass rush shows up to help them.
Looking for continued improvement in the rookie class thats been playing so far, the secondary to improve as well as Ridley to continue to run hard and protect the ball.

Re: Official Game 2 thread: Patriots vs. Cardinals
My only real worry is Fitz. The Pats secondary won't be able to contain him, pass-rush will need to force bad throws.

Re: Official Game 2 thread: Patriots vs. Cardinals
Well, Shane Vereen returned to practice today, so that's something. If Ridley can keep running hard and effective like he did on Sunday, then to have a healthy Vereen as a change of pace could give them a real good duo that defenses actually have to pay attention to.

Re: Official Game 2 thread: Patriots vs. Cardinals
Kolb is pretty awful. This game is close if the Pats turn the ball over. Otherwise, I expect the Pats to pretty much control the game on both sides. Arizona does have a decent defense, or at least did last year, so it may not be that high scoring.

Re: Official Game 2 thread: Patriots vs. Cardinals
There is speculation that Skelton may be back in time for the game. As for Arizona, the OL is nothing to write home about, young with a couple guys that can develop into beasts if coached correctly. Defense is more impressive, young and fast. Peterson also can return for the Cards and set the rookie record of returns for TD. Everyone knows Fitz, and the running game is lead by Beanie Wells who some days is great and others average at best. I would blame those days on good D's and a porous OL. If the Pats can keep the intensity of the Pass rush which should happen unless the Cards can somehow step up the QB will be looking for quick releases which neither one of these QB's is good with. Should NE win, yes. Could it be a lot tighter than the 13.5 point spread that is current? Yes again. This game could be a 6 point game if the defense does not keep on its toes.

This offense sucks today! These long passes that have missed I blame Brady. He`s overthrowing his receivers or putting them out of position to catch the pass. That pass in the endzone to gronk was prime example!

Wow this game is a disaster so far. Looks like hernandez got the same injury as gronk got last year. If hes out for any length of time could open door for branchs return.

Joshy, you got some 'splainin' to do at half time about this offense.
Word now is that AHern's ankle is not broken, so that's good.
Wow ... Bills killing Chiefs 21-0 ... Indy leading Vikes 17-6 ... another weird season coming up.

so much for my going to bat for Welker he dropped a pass in right in his bread basket. Then that moron punter with the looooooooooong stride gets a punt blocked
Great playing today

That was the first block in Zoltan's career - kinda tough to rag on him - BB was worried about ARI's ST.
AHern has high ankle sprain, out at least a month.

Re: Official Game 2 thread: Patriots vs. Cardinals
Doesn`t matter these guys are toast today any way. Yeah wasnt trying to rag on the punter he just has such a looong stride I knew one would get blocked sooner or later. I seen a couple of those last season come really close to getting blocked
If they go down today, god help them next week. Could be 1-2 so much for an easy schedule

Re: Official Game 2 thread: Patriots vs. Cardinals
Yeah - offense is nowhere near in sync - INT and blocked punt more or less handed 10 points to Cards, otherwise D is hanging in.
Eagles-Ravens is a real physical game, hopefully BAL will be too beat up to be 100%.
Now Wilfork being looked at. Holy crap.

What a waste! The guy kicks field goals from all over the field then he chokes on that chip. They play like this next week they`ll be shedding blood all over that field!
on another note that holding call on Gronk was terrible! But I guess they deserved to lose that game
They were pathetic!

Holy hell. Gosti missed.
Wow.
Sighted pooch, screwed same.
D played well enough to win, but O and ST were a disaster.
Tomorrow's team meeting should be brutal.

Just wait until next week. The defense will then get exposed when they have to deal with Ray Rice all night long. Take more than monday morning film meetings for sure

They played like ****! It should never came down to a FG. They should have won this game running away. 4 feild goals are you kidding me, with their offense?

That wasn't a chip. 40+ yard field goals are concerned long field goal attempts.

That wasn't a chip. 40+ yard field goals are concerned long field goal attempts. Yeah, but trying a FG on a 1st & 10 with that much time left on the clock was just stupid. Ravens also lost....I don't think the Pats have a chance next week. The Ravens D will shut them down.

I will give Lloyd crap for his drop, but he made Brady look good a few times by catching balls that probably shouldn't have been caught because they were so poorly thrown. Brady had a very bad game today and the OL can't be blamed because he had alot of time. When they showed the replays of the sacks and incompletes, you could always see a Patriot receiver open by a few yards. He just had some really bad reads and didn't see the field well today.

This is the first time. You always try to grab some extra yards to make it an easier kick.

Re: Official Game 2 thread: Patriots vs. Cardinals
With the 1:00PM start I didn't get to see quite a bit, - but what I saw I'd say this wasn't solely Gost's loss - this was a team effort. The Cards defense gave the Pats about all they could handle. - Plus the "law of averages" kicked in here also, - they haven't lost a "home opener" since something like 2001. - NO team is going to win every opener for eternity, ... In fact now that I think of it, the announcer said the Cards had won something like 8 out of their last 10 games, ... "might not be quite as bad" as some folks think.

I'm gonna look at this as karma - the missed kick makes up for the Raven's game last season. Now we're even, God, you may resume smiting the Jets.
Just saw this on Twitter: Bernard Pollard has a rib contusion and said he expects to play next week against the Patriots, but added: "Right now, I'm hurting."

Re: Official Game 2 thread: Patriots vs. Cardinals
I agree with every single poster here. However, I don't think Kolb was anything special today. He wasn't bad, but he missed some throws and plays. If he played well I think the Patriots lose by two touchdowns. Give credit to Arizona. I didn't think they had a chance in this game. Their defense is better than people think.
