I voted DB, but I think they should target DB and WR in FA.  This safety draft class is very weak.  I'm hoping the Patriot's starting safeties next year are Chung and a vet they bring in.

I vote defensive lineman, - the more beef the better, ... too bad Albert didn't work out. - Year after year, the offense puts up around 30 points a game, ... should be enough to win.

I went with DL as they still need to find a mid-career guy to round out that unit. I'm assuming Ellis won't be back.

I went with DB.  At very least they need depth.  They ultimately need another starter at Safety or Corner

Latest I'm seeing is the Rams aren't intending to tag Lloyd.

There's a rumor that the Pats may go after DE Mario Williams.

I think they should get a DE in the first round in this year's draft.

If BB/RK see a 2-3 year window left with TB, they may decide to go all-in.

Well Stevie Johnson is off the list as he has signed a contract with Buffalo. The Patriots in what would be a great off season to me would sign Mario WIlliams, a safety and either VJax or Wallace and maybe another WR.  Sign Welker to a long term deal (3 years) to remove the franchise tag and add some beef to the DL. (someone that can play and play a decent amount of plays)

That would be great!  Not the Pats MO though.  Likely they will make 2-3 mid level acquisitions.  Lloyd, resign Carter and Anderson, and pick up a safety.

That seems like it would be par for them.

Even though the Pats "need" a WR, they still score points with ease. The FA WR's may be too pricey for their budget. Lloyd may work because he'll give a home town discount to play for McD again.

Other than that, they need help on D. DE, OLB, S. I will be surprised if Brace makes the team this year given that he shows up out of shape every season - and then gets injured. Cunningham may not make it through camp unless he shows improvement. Which means the only youth on the DL is Kyle Love and Brandon Deaderick.

Brockers.Mercilus,Fletcher Cox,Nick Perry,Andre Branch.I want the first round to be 2 of those guys if they are not going after Mario Williams.I doubt that Poe or the kid from Penn ST will be there.

RE: Who Should The Patriots Target In Free Agency?

Dyin for Mario.....Would think it was a great offseason just getting him and a WR on the cheaper side like a Llyod. Not much left on the safety market but a signing there couldnt hurt. draft a saftey if one of the top 2 are there if not get sum more developmental guys later get a few wr in the draft mayb another corner or sign a cheap corner in the market all depends on Rowling on the need there IMO. But I def think Mario plus health would put our D way up there and the offense )aside from the lack of deep threat which from the way they've scored would really be a luxury ecspecially if the 2nd yrs rbs can have an impact) would still be towards the top in the NFL just infuse some youth and call it good. We have the $ to make the big splash just not alot and we dont need to do it often but its been what 5 or 6yrs and that was after the last big loss other than that year in the Superbowl. Mayb BB has set up the team for a big signing again with that room. Heck beside locking up Gronk and Hernadez we will have the extra 20 mil comin in 2014 to the salary cap give him a somewhat backloaded deal where the biggest hit or 2 is in 2014-2015

Cunningham...nows theres a forgotten name. You're right he may not make it through camp unless he improves. I hope the Patriots can do enough in free agency to really give themselves some options in the draft. Knowing that the defense needs improvement hopefully NE is ready to start doing that beginning next week.

Cunningham has the physical tools, but something ain't clicking. Maybe BB gave him some off-season homework like he did for Arrington last year. The D isn't far from where it needs to be - one more LB, one more DB/S, and one more stud on the line and they're good.

RE: Who Should The Patriots Target In Free Agency?

Pats looking at Trevor Scott.  Maybe Anderson is looking for to much compensation so the Pats are looking elsewhere.

I would really like them to bring back Anderson,  He was solid for the Pats all year.  Unless there is more to it than the money.  Maybe he wasn't what they wanted in the locker room.

I also read some speculation on Teblow to the Pats.  Oh no say it aint so.  Its just not the Pats way to bring in a media whore like Teblow.

When did Tebow become a media whore?  I don't remember him actively seeking out the media to try to get some publication.  From what I see, its the other way around.

I concur. The media seemed to create Tebow-mania and the whole "Tebowing" crap.

I don't know where the "Tebow to the Pats" rumors come from. There's no logic to it at all. The Pats tendered Hoyer and there's still Mallet in the wings. They're not in any QB trouble.

I can see Shanny and the 'Skins taking a look at Tebow, though. He'd boost attendance and Shanny would know how to work with that kind of QB. But that probably makes too much sense for Snyder.

RE: Who Should The Patriots Target In Free Agency?

It was something of both MW-dom and a media frenzy.  Tebow...'Tebowed', the media covered it, and he kept it going.  He didn't shun getting his 'message' out. He was front and center, but he could have taken it further.

The rumors to the Pats would be as a RB.  I can see him in Miami since they appear to be 'losing' in the Peytie-stakes, and he'd be huge even in southern FL.

I think they will look at more in August as cuts are being made, but a solid DE or OLB to get a pass rush that they have been lacking. Looks like Anderson is signing with Buffalo and no return.

I like what the bills have doned in FA although they gave mario williams alot of money. They wont be an easy team to defeat anymore. This team needs to address their d-line alot more then wat they did in FA.I would like to see them find a way to trade up and get that defensive tackle or defensive end to rush the damn QB!!I am expecting them to use their first 2 round picks on the d-line!!

They had RB's Ryan Grant and Thomas Hightower in for meetings this week. Wow. McDaniels is going hog wild for RB's. I expected the 10 WR's on the roster, but not all the RB and FB moves.

Re: Who Should The Patriots Target In Free Agency?

I like Hightower in the Pats system but I'm not sure if the insurance is needed.  Got Woody, Veeren and Ridley.   Im not saying that is without question the answer but I think we saw enough of Ridley to say he is  the real deal given the chance. If he learns how to hold onto the ball a little better It would help.  Veeren seems like he might workout as well.   The RB group approach seems like its the Pats way.  On the other hand, It they bring in Hightower for the purpose of motivation it might be worth it.

Re: Who Should The Patriots Target In Free Agency?

Woody can't pound the ball. Ridley had fumble issues. Vereen has a lot of potential but is still an unknown quantity. BB likes to have a veteran presence at every position and there isn't one at RB now - unless Faulk stays.
