Re: Game Balls and Goats: Miami - New England

Balls:

1. Welker: He fought off some missed PI calls early to have a huge game

2. Mayo: 13 tackles, 2 sackes. He is so good

3. Shawn Ellis: Welcome to the team Shawn, it only took you 15 games to make an impact. He looked like he drank 5 redbulls before the game..LOL

Honorable Mention: The Bills for exposing Tebow and making him throw 4 INT's. I just hope Skip Bayless is not on vacation Monday

Goats:

1. Mccourty: I don't mean to keep chiming on him but he is so bad now. Torched by Hartline, 50 yarder to Marshall, bonehead PI call when they had it 3rd and long on their own 5. I know he had the INT late but he puts us in bad situations every game and I  refuse to forgive him with 1 or 2 plays he makes late. Make him a safety or something. You wanna know why we are ranked 32nd in passing? Because he is our #1 CB

2.  O-line: First half was embarrassing. They were letting Brady get hit every play

3. Play calling early: Yes we won but another week where we went down early. The offensive play  calling was atrocious in the first half

Honorable Mention: Big mouth foot fetish idiot for looking like a pompous @ss again

CBS Announcing, just awful!

Half Goats see the Half Balls

Re: Game Balls and Goats: Miami - New England

BALLS

1.  Mayo - is becomming an elite LB, which is a good thing considering he will have a $9M/year average cap hit with his new contract.  I like the way the Patriots are using him on defense now.  He is definately a force.

2.  Ellis - filled in very well for Carter.

3.  Ridley - I just like the way he runs.  I have a feeling the Patriots will tender Lawfirm next year and then try to move him.  Ridley can fill Lawfirm's role.

Honorable Mention:  OLine with 2 rookies taking care of business; McCourty, even with his Jeckle and Hyde day - 1 INT, 4 passes defended - at least he is making progress and is showing flashes of what he did last year; Gostkowski for his special teams tackle; Welker with another big game; Oakland/Cincinatti/Giants/Tennessee

GOATS

1.  Brady's 1st half (again)

2.  Pass interference - calls continue to be grossly inconsistent league wide.  Some games yesterday have calls when receivers are barely touched, others let everything go.  I don't understand how the one play yesterday was not offensive pass interference on Marshall when he went over and through the Patriots defended before the ball was there.  The league needs to sit the referee teams down and go over it next year so there is at least some consistency in the calls.

3.  The defense on some of the drives.  Just like McCourty, they show some great flashes and then it disappears for a period of time.  Though they were on the field ALOT in the first half because of all the 3 and outs the offense had.

Re: Game Balls and Goats: Miami - New England

BALLS

1. Patriots in the 2nd half. Awesome come back, this team did not do that 2 years ago.

2. Welkah. Started bad and then someone flipped a switch.

3. Pats LB's - 3 sacks and a FF, Fletcher was close to adding a couple more sacks.

GOATS

1. Patriots in the 1st half. Wow, they sucked.

2. Sexy Rexy. Yup, New York *is* talking about you.

3. Tebow-mania. Woot, there it was.

Re: Game Balls and Goats: Miami - New England

Balls:

1- Miami defense in the first half. Why? zero points scored by New England

2- Miami offense in the first half. Why? Put up 17 to zip in points

3- New England O & D in the 2nd. half Why? "Just did their jobs" and overcame a 17 pt.
    defecit in the 2nd half.

Honorable Mention:  Dolphin coaching staff for haanging tough vs. # 1 AFC seed

Goats:

1- McCorty. Why? looking like he simply does not know how to play the position

2- Patriot Run game. Why? Where has it gone?

3- Brady in first half. Why? How lo can you go?

Dishonorable mentions:   Intentionaly left open

Re: Game Balls and Goats: Miami - New England

Game Balls

1) Tom Brady -- Another 300 yard pasing performance after a slow start. Brady finished with 27 completions in 46 attempts doe 304 yards and 1 passing TD.  He also rished for a pair of touchdowns on QB sneaks at the goal line, both crucial scores in the second half.

2) Wes Welker12 catches for 138 yards shattered the team record for most yards in a season by a receiver (Randy Moss 2007, 1,493). With 116 receptions, Welker is seven catches away from breaking his own franchise record 123 catches in a season.  He lead the NFL with 104 catches headed into the season.

3)  Patriots second half defense –
Held the Dolphins defense to just 7 points after giving up 17 points in the first half.  The team forced the Dolphins into desperation mode.

Honorable Mention:
Rob Gronkoski  - Finished with seven catches for 78 yards to break Ben Coates franchise record of 1,174 yards.  Gronk has 1,219 with one game remaining.

GOATS
1) Patriots first half offense – Failing to score on five straight possessions is a franchise first in 2011.  The team could do nothing correct in the first half and looked listless on every drive.

2) Devin McCourty As many good plays McCourty had on defense he had an equal number bof bad plays.  Giving up

3)  Rex Ryan -- The Jets fell to the New York Giants 29 – 14 to fall one game out of the hunt for a playoff spot.  The Jets, who claimed they were Super Bowl favorites headed in the season, are in serious danger of missing out on the postseason.

Dishonorable Mentions:
Offensive line -- with all the injuries the patritos were in danger of having a loss they couldn't afford. The line couldn't protect Brady or open holes for most of the game. until the team went hurry-up, New England had no rhythm.
