Re: Patriots - Redskins Game Balls and Goats

Balls:

Gronkowski: Awesome again

Wilfork: Got good pressure

Goats:

Mccourty: Just cut him or put him at safety. I can't watch it anymore. QB's come after him no matter who he covers

Brady:  Arguing with a  coach on the sideline, making some bad passes as well and the horrible decision on the INT from the 5yard line.

Ihedibo: Is as bad as Mccourty. he gets hurt about 3-4 times a game as well

Dishonorable mention: Pretty much the entire team but  Wilfork, Carter and Gronk

Re: Patriots - Redskins Game Balls and Goats

Da Big Bad Balls:

1.   Hate to be repetitious, but the Gronk is unbelievable despite being double teamed for most of the game.
2.   Carter did pretty well with pressure.
3.   Not much else.  I am surprised they won this one.

Filthy Ol Goats:
1.  The entire D secondary.  Total breakdown in coverage today.  Aside from the few bright moments they sucked.
2.  Something has to be done about the ref's.   Missed calls, bad calls.  Hell they call a roughing on Wilfork for a last second momentum hit  and never catch the helmet to face guard hit on the Gronk.  This crap happened all game.  Maybe if Greedall liked the Pats as much as the Skins maybe it would have been different.
3.  Penalties.  Way too many on both sides of the ball for both teams and they always seemed to be at the most critical of times.

Off topic.  What was the hoorah with Tommy "Hot Wife" Terrific and one of the coaches..  I just missed it while I was getting another beer.

Internet stream was crap so I really couldn't watch much, based on what little I saw I'd say:

Balls: Gronk, Welkah, AHern, Mayo, Wilfork, Carter.

Goats: Refs, Refs, Refs, everyone else on the Pats - coaches included (team seemed flat most of the game, offense seemed largely 1-dimensional, secondary took a major step backwards, Brady was on his period)

Re: Patriots - Redskins Game Balls and Goats

Balls
1 - TEs for abusing the Redskin linebackers all day long. Gronkowski is a beast.

2 - DL - thought they did a pretty good job getting pressure on the QB. Almost all the big yards on runs were to the outside.

3 - tebow. Tell me again why next Sunday was not flexed. Imagine the ratings of Tebowmania going up against Brady.

Goats
1 - the whole secondary. Arrington was awful in run support. At least McCourty showed flashes again.

2 - Lawfirm for being what he is - a completely one dimensional running back. I would be shocked if Brady throws another pass his way the rest of the season.

3 - Brady for having another mortal game. I don't know which throw was worse - overthrowing a wide open Woodhead on an 8 yard swing pass by about 5 feet, throwing the ball 2 feet behind a wide open Gronkowski in the end zone, or the INT.

You think the refs were bad in the Pats game (and they were for both sides), watch the footage of the last play in the Titans game. Ball on the 5 with a few seconds left, locker drops back and has noone to throw to because 1) a defender shoved one receiver out of bounds with a hand to the face and another defender tripped another receiver. Flags should have been all over the field.

I didn't see the game so I can't do a Balls and Goats, but I wanted to respond to Stealth's comment about next week's game with Denver being flexed. It isn't flexed because Bob Kraft didn't want it flexed. It would have been a great national game but Kraft apparently doesn't care for the rest of the league in terms of television.

Re: Patriots - Redskins Game Balls and Goats

Then...

Balls for RK for NOT flexing out the Pats. It's still a national game, just at 4pm (from those of us sick of losing sleep)

And another to Brady.  Could have had 5 TD passes except for two drops in one drive, and a playable ball that got tipped for the IT.

Gronk gets the 3rd despite his drops

Goats

Pats DBs

The pretty much the whole D outside of VW

Bad reffing all around

Just saw the highlights of the Lions-Vikings game. Add that to the list of games the refs completely screwed up. How could none of the refs not see the Vikings QB get his head yanked by the facemask on that last play. Absolutely horrible. The league needs to review the non-calls on the last plays of that game and the Titan game.

During the Redskins post game on Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, with former players Trevor Matich, Brian Mitchell and Rick "Doc" Walker, well they all agreed and commented on how bad the Refs were for BOTH teams. They felt that Roger should fine and hold them accountable for bad calls.

Re: Patriots - Redskins Game Balls and Goats

They were horrible for both teams. The 15 yard penalty on the Redskins on the Brady slide should have been a non call. Both teams got crappy calls/non-calls. And it is a league-wide problem.
