Baltimore Doesn't Want The Patriots To Win?

Danger ahead if playoff sleigh ride lands in New England
Baltimore Sun

If there is such a thing as Santa Claus, then the Ravens had better hope he delivers them the perfect late gift Sunday night. That present would be a first-round playoff game against anyone but the New England Patriots.

Of course, we're getting a little ahead of ourselves here, because the Ravens haven't beaten the Jacksonville Jaguars yet to earn a playoff berth. But that's a formality.

In those famous words of a song written by the late James Brown, "Please, Please, Please," don't bring on the Patriots.

I don't blame them. They're going to face either the Pats, Dolphins or Jets. With apologies to the Dolphins (and none whatsoever to the Jets), the Pats are playing the best of those 3 teams right now.

It's not about facing the Pats, it's about resting our starters.  If you lose at 1PM  we're in regardless of what happens with the Jags at 4PM.

I don't blame Baltimore for not wanting to face New England. Who wouldn't rather face an inexeperienced Miami team that has players with very little playoff experience? Of course Baltimore wants Miami.

Trust me, Baltimore would like nothing better than to avenge that BS loss to you guys last year....

No offense, but I am sure the team would rather play an opponent that gives them a better chance of winning. Internet fans may want one thing, but the team and players probably would rather have the best opportunity to win. I doubt the team cares about "avenging" whatever loss if it means the chances of advancing are less. Miami gives Baltimore a better chance of moving on. Heck...I would rather the Patriots face Miami. If Miami wins and Baltimore loses, I will tickled pink at the opportunity of the Patriots playing Miami in the 1st round. Would rather play Denver, but Miami is a much easier opponent than the Colts, Steelers, or Titans.

"'Bazooka Joe"

Gotta like that handle!   Through my eyes nobody wants to face the NEP >>IF<< the Je Je Je Je Je Je Jets stand up like men and take care of business today. When given the protection MC has the ultimate weapons at his disposal.

Now referencing "that BS loss"...........well my man, you are rite on that count! You had NE dead-to-rites twice, late in that one and in both instances, shot yourselves in the foot, letting NE off the hook.

Imo, I dont see the rookie Joe Flacco as stepping up for this one.

user is right, what YOU want and what the Ravens want are two different things.
And if the Pats do meet the Ravens in the Playoffs and they beat them again, what excuse will you use this time? Remember that old saying, "Be careful what you wish for"

You guys dont know much about the personalities on our team if you really believe that.  Guys like Lewis, Scott, Pryce, and Suggs will use that loss as fuel.

As a fan I dont even think it would be close.  Your defense is terrible and your offense is a shell, even with the excellent play of Cassell I think we would destroy you...in your own house.

Ask the Cowboys how that rookie "stepped up"

Nobody is trying to say that Lewis doesn't act on emotion.  Either way, we're talking about two 10-5 teams, so whatever level you put the Ravens on, you can argue at minimum that the Patriots (with their shell offense and horrible defense) aren't far behind and would not get destroyed.  I happen to believe that I'm not giving the Patriots enough credit in that last sentence.

As for your second post about Flaco, a lot of QB's can say that about the Cowboys.

I am not here to talk smack. As a Ravens fan I am glad we got the Dolphins instead of you guys. The Belichick factor is always huge in big games. Damn shame you guys are home with an 11-5 record. Good luck next season.

Re: Baltimore Doesn't Want The Patriots To Win?

at the thought of anyone claiming knowing football and saying the Raven  would rather face the Patriots than the Dolphins or Jets. Christmas came in the form of the Ravens facing the Dolphins instead of the Patriots. The Ravens will destroy the wildcat, just like NE did they last time they plated the Dolphins ans blew them out in Miami. I think that was the last game the Dolphins lost?

The Patriots are playing the best out of the three teams by far (Dolphins, Jets) the Patriots if they had made the playoffs would have gotten them at home. (You really need to look at athe home playoff record of the Patriots) The Patriots are lacking a few pieces defensively yes, however the Ravens offense scares no one. New England can run the ball, and they can pass good enough and Moss and Welker always gives the passing game a chance. IMO NE would have won a close game and moved on if they had made it. Since they did not it's all moot. 11-5 not the playoffs but not bad considering all the injuries.

Arrr, OK ? We must be missing it, Bazooka Joe. This is the way it came down for NE in 2008. Lost their HOF QB game one, first quarter. NO excuse just facts. Lost 13+ STARTERS down the stretch. NO excuse just fact. Played kick-sass ball in the 2ND half, after the guys got to know each other under a new QB.
Please, check your AFC-East O and D stats prior to using the adjectives "terrible" and "shell" on this team.
So you "think" of distruction @ The Razor?? YOU loose credability. Did you watch the Miami Game yesterday? The Raven will need all it's got for their game v. Fins after what I saw. Pennington out dueled(sp) Farve for 60 minutes. NY Press calling for Mangini's head today.
Good Luck in So. Florida and, Oh by the way. have I mentioned to you that Tom Brady will be back next season and he's bringing HELL with him?  Check 'ya schedule......

Shell of an offense?  Discounting yesterday's borderline hurricane the Patriots put up 47 or more points in 3 of their final 5 games.  Have a clue as to what you're speaking of.

I must agree with both points.

Last season Balt. win by the Pats was pure luck, I will agree there.

And Joe Flacco certainly did step up yesterday.

Re: Baltimore Doesn't Want The Patriots To Win?

Yeah Flacco sure did step up against a great Jax team with one of the leagues best defenses. It's s shame Jax only missed the playoffs by tie breakers. What did Jax have 10-11 wins?

Posted: 12/29/2008 9:20 AM

Re: Baltimore Doesn't Want The Patriots To Win?

No Jax had only 5 or 6 wins and alot of injuries and other things.  The raisins have been lucky and are lucky NE isn't in at 11-5.  Flacco or any rookie qb could have done ok agianst these bad teams balto faced this year.  Balto and flacco who got away with alot of his bad decisions were lucky!
