He played well last week, could it be because the Patriots wanna keep him healthy for a trade? wink

I still think there's trade potential in the wind for Mallett and Ridley.

All I care about is no injuries.

It's always fun to see the team play regardless of importance but anyone who stands out will probably be because of the nature of the game.
Good or bad can be hard to decipher.. Bad better for sure but are they injured and just filling in so starter won't get hurt?

So many questions but the fish better be ready because that's all BB is thinking about..

Special teams can find a player in games like this too.

It's possible Garoppolo may be the one on the trading block. He's done very well, he's young and he's cheap. He could net a #1 pick next year.

They won't get much for Mallet, but he can back up one more year. They used him in the replacement drill last week, and he was okay.

BB must get frustrated with Ridley, but unless it's an OL or TE back, not sure why they'd do it.  He's actually done a decent job of hanging onto the ball since he worked with Faulk late last year. He is the best runner they have.

Re: Patriots @ Giants

Ridley's lack of field changing plays, other than first downs at times. I'm talking in the 20-30 plus runs just seem to be lacking for his ability.
His fumbles become more costly when you don't provide the type of point producing runs other backs of his style do.
His style of almost numb minded get every little centimeter and spin or drive legs when play has nothing else to gain, drives me crazy with his untimely fumbles. I know, like theirs a good time to fumble but doesn't it seem like he just does not have in game concentration at crucial times. No great back fumbles then.  He has good vision, a very explosive way to get past the line of scrimmage... he uses it so well to power through small holes. Basically not like Maroney..
I don't like when they sweep or quick pitch him too often because he seems to think too much instead of use his biggest asset which is a fearless get every inch I can. But then make sure that ball is with you bud and get down some!
In Faulk we trrrrust.
The fish game should be interesting for him if we keep him.
Run blocking can be much more complicated but rewarding for the O-line than pass blocking. Every! O-line would rather run block than peddle back and have defenders gaining momentum on them. I'll be very interested in if we see the O-line thinking as one.. Most O-line men are like cattle and need to graze together often to just be as one. It's not always as fast as you pull as a guard but knowing how to adjust to the action so ultimately you are in the right spot to even try to block. They can practice all they like but there is nothing like learning what your teammate will do when the going gets tough or easy for that matter...
I wouldn't play Ridley with the game on the line ever. Not yet. I'd give him this early regular season and he better produce if the yards are there.
I'd trade him for a 3rd round pick to a cellar dweller team.

I can't see them trading Jimmy. How many tries have they had at finding a guy to take over for Brady? And this is the closest we've seen to a guy who can do the job. That'd really be insane - and no way someone gives up a 1st for him.

Dok, you'll never guess what's being talked about on 98.5 sports radio right now? wink

Re: Patriots @ Giants

I'm hearing JG has taken a leadership role with the rookies especially the Offensive ones and is drilling them on their assignments on different plays. He has no problem with the pressure of learning and being demeaned... Crucial ingredients to learn to be great..
I remember Brady telling the story of how he found written information on all the things he needed to improve on and his dedication to improve and learn got him through it.
It's priceless to earn the respect of your teammates with your work ethic which is true by all accounts with Jimmy.
Most of my info comes from radio guests / x players who I trust their info with most of the time.
I bet BB's hands are all over how he develops and the challenges he will be put through. It's great to see how players respond to failure. JG will be going against starters tonight for supposedly a quarter from what's coming from the undefeated Giants...

Our new TE will be wearing 81.

I like the kid and he may be the next best thing to TFB.  Do you you expose 'the next best thing', or do you give 'one last chance' in this virtually meaningless exhibition?   ...and if the Rams want him? (No I don't think this happens, but the conspiracy advocates are talking.)

Re: Patriots @ Giants

Dobson plays tonight.

This will be the first time Dobson suits up for the Patriots this preseason, after missing the first three preseason games.

Dobson had been sidelined by a stress fracture in his left foot. Earlier this offseason, Howe also reported that doctors inserted a screw into Dobson's injured foot. He was strictly doing conditioning drills during the first two weeks of training camp, and didn't begin participating in practice until Aug. 11. Even then, he was participating in a limited fashion, and was held out of team drills.

The Patriots slowly increased the workload for Dobson up to this point, and the team feels the time has come for him to take the next step and participate in live action. He traveled with the team to New Jersey, according to the report, and the Patriots have planned all week for him to participate.

With a logjam at wide receiver that includes Brandon LaFell and Kenbrell Thompkins competing for snaps on the outside, Dobson needs all the reps he can get.

They need to see what Jimmy can do as a starter to judge his progress. Let him play.

Here's an article on JG from earlier this year. No way they trade him.

It would be a replay of '07 - how "everything's fixed" & somehow the NFL saw to it the Pats got favored again. - Or how BK bought/bribed the NFL ...

For those of us outside of New England who don't get to see the game, NFL Network isn't showing it until Saturday afternoon at 1pm.

Media was told Bolden wasn't injured, so unclear why he's not dressed for the game.

The new FHOF TE is wearing #81.

I saw Worthy in there. Beauharnais had a nice tackle there.

Still don't recognize who's in what number on all these new guys yet.
