Armstead retires

Really sucks, wanted to see what he could do. His condition must be really bad

I hope he sues the crap out of someone over this - he was fine until the doctors screwed him up.

Am I the only one concerned with the pats defensive line? It has age and players coming back from injuries and they drafted a guy with two acl injuries.

Re: Armstead retires

I think the DL and DBs are going to be the cornerstones of this team. They have talent and depth at both.  VW needs strength to play, not quickness.  The Pats have his charts.  They would have dropped him if they had major questions, not extended him. My questions with Easley are more with adaptability to the Pats system.

There are literally tens of NFL players with an ACL history.  It's like being concerned with a pitcher who's had rotator cuff surgery. So many have come back with great careers.  If they don't come back it's not necessarily the surgery.  It's the man's ability at that point in his career. A young guy should stand a great chance.

DL spectrum good mix of younger and older players:

Vince Wilfork (6-2, 325): Captain and 11-year veteran

Tommy Kelly (6-6, 310): Another 11-year veteran,

Dominique Easley (6-2, 288): First-round draft choice is coming off two torn ACLs in a span of three seasons, suffered in college

Chris Jones (6-1, 309) Second-year player was claimed on waivers last year and led all Patriots defensive tackles in snaps played in 2013. Best when penetrating.

Sealver Siliga (6-2, 325): After a slow start to his career, the run-stuffer looks like he has built some momentum behind Wilfork.

Joe Vellano (6-2, 300): Hard-working second-year player from Maryland is a lunch-pail type of guy who plays with top effort.

Yep. Very unfortunate.

Last I heard was he was making progress and had a shot at returning this year. This is a shocker that he retired. Too Bad. I wish him all the Best.
The time has come and gone, Here's to the 2014 Season.
