Not a suspect according to ESPN, but they are searching his home, I believe, for a key piece of evidence.

Oh WTF. Can we get any good news about this team? First Gronk, who makes Ken Griffey Junior look like Cal Ripken, gets surgery number 200. Then we waste roster spots by drafting several no name Rutgers guys. Then we sign the 700 club for no reason except that he is apparently polarizing. Now this

banghead

RK is not a happy guy right about now.

Meanwhile, Tebow is busy studying a copy of the TE's playbook.

Dok .. that was my thought exactly .. Tebow has moved up on the TE depth chart.  If he was REALLY talented, he could pass to himself!!

Let's hope Hernandez isn't involved.
And .. as always ...

Go Pats!!

Re: Hernandez questioned in murder case?

Maybe he moved up numerically but Tebow's odds of playing TE are still basically nil. Ballard and Ohoh are still there. And there's a UFA they picked up who's having a great camp. And I think they still have Fells. Plus figure they could convert Blount or Develin to TE if need be. So that's 6 guys who can play TE better than Tebow. Plus Wilfork.

Is that a shot at Tebow because he is a Christian?

Don't forget Tuukka!  That makes 8.

Here I thought his first call would be to Roger Goodell to destroy the video evidence.

In all seriousness, lets (all fans) wait until all the facts are out before making the determination of whether he is innocent or guilty.

One thing for sure is the thread title is either out of date or wrong. They have moved way beyond the questioning of Hernandez.

Search Warrants. Arrests. Policemen moving evidence in boxes. This should keep ESPN busy for days.

RE: Hernandez questioned in murder case?

Saw this reported in a couple local sources:

A North Attleboro detective disputed unsubstantiated Web reports Hernandez was being uncooperative.

“He’s there. He’s fine,” the detective told the Herald.

So that part of what the national "news" (ESPN ... *cough* ... *gak*) is reporting is wrong.

My guess is some jerkwad friend of his did something moronic and used his rental car to do it.

Also saw that the rental car (why have a rental car?) was reported RECOVERED  (so was it reported stolen?) near the scene.

I think you may be right that a friend or friends visiting (from out of state?), who he rented a car for, may be at the bottom of this...

Let's keep it "on topic" - relation to murder case and football. - He's only polarizing if folks take the bait, ... don't bother, it isn't worth it & proves absolutely nothing.

Re: Hernandez questioned in murder case?

After learning that Hernandez received a package from his attorney's office last night while the police were there, I have my own thoughts as to what happened.

1. Hernandez had a couple of buddies over and he rented them a car to go out.
2. They met up with Hernandez' "associate", the one that was eventually found dead.
3. The three of them were drinking, and one thing led to another.
4. The two friends that were later at Hernandez' house killed the other one, though it was an accident.
5. They panicked, and threw the body in the woods behind the industrial park.
6. They told Hernandez, and, knowing his name would surface at some point, called his attorneys, which is why the package came in the mail at such an ironic time.
7. All of the media reports said that Hernandez was being very uncooperative initially. I think he was. Now, he is supposedly being very nice. Strange. I think he got a call from either his attorney or someone in the Patriots organization and they told him to knock it off and be cooperative, which is why he now is answering questions.

Do I think Hernandez killed his associate? I doubt it. But it is too soon to tell. I DO think he knows something though. In fact, I think he HAS to. The rental car found at the scene was rented in his name, and the person killed was his associate. We will soon get more evidence and base our own opinions, but that is how I see it as of right now.

Jimbo, one question to your possible scenario, what makes you think it was an accident?

I don't remember seeing it reported exactly how he died before being dumped...

It is just a gut feeling Jet that's all. It very well might not be. The latest report is that Hernandez is NOT cooperating and he IS in fact a suspect. This is getting interesting.

There is no evidence to suggest what you are suggesting.

Here's what we know:

1. The police executed a search warrant on his property and arrested two individuals inside the premises.

That suggests strongly that that the police think he's either involved or has some sort of tangible evidence of the crime.

2. One car that was found was rented to Hernandez another in his name is being sought after

3. The police say he's not a suspect but would like to interview him.

Note: This kind of information is suspect in a murder investigation because as we've seen Police will use this tactic in high profile cases to try and bring in a person of interest for questioning who has previously been uncooperative.

4. Police removed items from his house and brought in a mobile lab as part of their warrant.

The fact of the matter is we really don't know anything else. You guys want to create all these fantasies where Hernandez is either an innocent bystander or guilty go ahead. I'll wait until more details get released.

Re: Hernandez questioned in murder case?

The person that was found dead is semi pro football player Odin Lloyd, 27, of Dorchester. He was a player for the semi pro team the Boston Bandits. Lloyd is not known to police but did have a misdeamenor in 2008 due to his involvement in an altercation.

How are those facts PatMan? Good enough?

Re: Hernandez questioned in murder case?

Well, this link suggests who the victim may be,

http://www.boston.com/metrodes...3HvO/story.html

And, the video in this link reports the person who discovered the body saying:

“I saw an African-American male, probably 25-35 years old, decently dressed.” He adds “He was stiff motionless, one of the police officers came back later and said it looked the guy had been shot somewhere else and dumped here.”

Apparently, the dude was dating the sister of Hernandez's girlfriend.

So there is a link to Hernandez (hernandez likely knew him).

Not saying he did it, but this looks like he knows exactly who did. I hope he co-operates fully if he's innocent.

Re: Hernandez questioned in murder case?

Latest from the Globe.

Just saw a report from WBZ that they found a gun in the N. Attleboro area where the body was found.

Hopefully Hernandez isn't involved. Hopefully this teaches him a lesson about the people he allows to get close to him. Hopefully Gronk is also paying attention, because it's a miracle he hasn't had something like this in his life ... yet.

Re: Hernandez questioned in murder case?

I saw that too Dok. TMZ is also reporting that Aaron Hernandez was sued this past February because he shot his friend in the face. Hernandez and Alex Bradley went to a strip club where the two got into an argument. They left in the same car, and Hernandez pointed his gun at Bradley's face and the gun went off. Bradley sued for $100,000 but the case was dismissed. It is believed a settlement was made. Other outlets are now reporting this story. The NFL has NO tolerance for guns. I would think the NFL will not get involved. This does not look good for Hernandez.

My question is why did the Patriots do nothing about this shooting incident? I cannot believe they didn't know about it. I guess that is another topic for another day.

Yeah - just saw that TMZ thing - suit was filed and dropped. Sounds fishy. Only $100,000 for losing an eye?

What the hell is with these guys? They have *everything* ... money, fame, hot chicks ... they get paid to *play a game* ... and they still manage to throw it all away.

Re: Hernandez questioned in murder case?

NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, Mass. -- Investigators plan to execute a search warrant on an Enterprise rental car registered to New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez on Wednesday, sources told ABC News, two days after a dead body was found near the car about a mile from his home.

Hernandez was cooperative with police Tuesday night, sources told ABC News. The investigation is expected to continue through the week.

The search of the vehicle was planned after police spent hours at Hernandez's sprawling house in an upscale subdivision Tuesday night while another group of officers searched an industrial park where the body of a man identified Wednesday as Odin Lloyd, 27, was found Monday. Lloyd was a linebacker for the semi-pro Boston Bandits football team. The team's manager told ABC that Lloyd last practiced with the Bandits on Saturday.

The case began with the discovery Monday afternoon of Lloyd, who was shot in the head, ABC's sources said. His body was discovered in a clearing near John Dietsch Boulevard not far from a vehicle that had been rented by Hernandez, the sources said.

Suffolk County District Attorney Jake Wark told ABC News that Lloyd was arrested in 2008 on a misdemeanor charge stemming from a fight.

The time has come..... Here's to the 2014 Season.
