Re: Dennard Found Guilty

Up to 6 - he was found guilty on 2 of 3 counts. One is a max of 5 yrs, the other a max of 1 yr.

An article from a local paper notes the following:

Prosecutors said after the verdict was read that they were not recommending a sentence, but that typical sentences for a crime like this would range from probation to 180 days in jail. The sentencing hearing is set for April 11.

Seeing tweets that the league will review Dennard's case under the "personal conduct policy". Also seeing tweets that the league shouldn't have the ability to further punish him since this all happened before he was drafted and in the league. But I also can't see Roger missing an opportunity to fine someone and get his name in print.

Report is for a 1st timer he doesn't likely do serious time. Most likely a fine and suspended sentence.  As a pro athlete they know he can pay a fine.

He should fight anything Goodell thinks of tossing at him...unless BB says go with it.

What I'm seeing is that probation and a stiff fine are the likely outcome. While hitting a cop is dumb, it was done in the heat of the moment and the only "treatment" the cop needed was Ibuprofin (Motrin, basically) so this isn't worth throwing someone's life away over. Dennard already lost a ton of money by dropping to the 7th round too.

The judge would need to a complete Goodell to do make him serve jail time.

Just to clarify, this guy committed this crime before he was drafted correct? I hate to see the Pats suddenly flip on this guy...I hope they back him up.

Correct. Happened pre-draft. And his stock fell from 2nd round to 7th as a result, costing him million$ already.

The team had Haynesworth's back when he had charges, so I don't expect anything less here. I'm sure there are things happening behind the scenes.

Toyally agree back up your people. I mean besides that who has not wanted to punch a cop in the mouth on a few occasions. Some of them probally deserve it.

Re: Dennard Found Guilty

As expected, it looks like Darth Roger is trying to dance around the player conduct policy in order to be part of the Dennard story. Here's an article from Bedard of the Globe which details what the policy is and how the league (i.e. Jerky McFine-a-lot) is trying to twist it.
