SuperBowl Week Thread

SuperBowl Week Thread

Yes, there was more going on this week in New Orleans besides Antlergate (though that alone is friggin' funny as hell).

Marshall Faulk: Patriots cheated the Rams out of a Super Bowl

“I’ll never be over being cheated out of the Super Bowl,” Faulk told Tom Curran of CSNNE.com.

Willie McGinest: If we cheated, it would have been a blowout

“If … we had any extra information, then that game wouldn’t have been as dramatic as it was, coming down to a field goal. Trust me. It would have been a blowout,” McGinest said, via CSNNewEngland.com.

Rodney Harrison fears the long-term effects of his concussions

“And even since I retired from the Patriots in 2008, I would still experience headaches. I would play on Sunday and I would experience headaches up until Tuesday and Wednesday. And even now, at times there’s a sense of loneliness, a sense of isolation. Some anxiety problems. . . .

Ed Reed could “definitely” see himself as a Patriot

“Yeah, oh yeah man,” said Reed, per the Boston Herald. “I could definitely play for coach Belichick. He is a great coach. I’m sure he can help me to expand my football knowledge even more as a player and as a coach, so if I’m ever able to be around him, just like I was at the Pro Bowl, it’s huge.

“It’s the reason why I wear my sweater cut off a little bit. He’s the first guy I saw like, ‘That’s cool.’ You know, that’s cool. He cuts those sweater sleeves, and he’ll be comfortable.”

Re: SuperBowl Week Thread

Woot, there it is ...

Toomer unloads on Ray Lewis, calling him a caricature and a hypocrite

“If you single yourself out after you make a play, that’s one thing.  But to walk out on the field reminds me of the WWE, like The Rock coming out.  You’re becoming a caricature of yourself.  It’s exhausting.  I don’t know why somebody would want that.”

“If you want to say you’re Mr. Religious and all of that, have a clean record.  Don’t say all of that stuff if you know there’s stuff that might come back,” Toomer said.  “Those are the things that, when I look at him, I just think hypocrisy.”

Is that an ole school Titans jacket on Rexy? Those are the colors.

Kwondo is the best at changing initials. KFC might mean something else. They are making fists just like dad did a few times.....lol

It's time for team (concussions especially) doctors to be objective on the sidelines.

There is not a very good history out there.

^^^^ Good one!

Yeah, Rexy has definitely trimmed down. Good for him, carrying that much extra weight in a high-stress job is not a good thing.

I will be so glad when Sunday is over and the Ravens cease to be relevant for the next half-decade.

Re: SuperBowl Week Thread

Does anyone else think this particular SB is a joke already?

Maybe not the game, but all the idiotic politics and distractions. Beyonce. Gay team-mates. The kids from Newtown singing. Ray Lewis. Flacco and his "retarded" remarks. The city's beef with Goodell (some bars have "don't serve this man" posters for him). The Harbaughs (though they've been actually pretty quiet).

I have Twitter running most of the day while I work and half the crap I see related to the SB this year has nothing to do with actually playing football.

Just everyone STFU already and play the stinking game.

Moss saying he's the greatest ever! And on and on and on..
We're not searching hard for the stuff, it's getting shoved down our throats..

Re: SuperBowl Week Thread

I haven't watched a single minute of NFL Network or ESPN since the end of the Pats game now almost two weeks ago.  I couldn't be any less interested in this Super Bowl. I won't be watching any of it.  Kind of sucks to not be able to enjoy the finale of the season after watching all things football since last summer.  On the other hand I'm kind of enjoying the freedom to do other things and not have to care who wins or loses a football game this weekend.  Wait, I take that back, I do care that the Ravens lose.  Hopefully they lose big.  I'm sure someone will let me know on Monday how it turned out.

Re: SuperBowl Week Thread

I care only in that I want to see Moss get his ring. As much of a nut case as he's turned into (again), he's still very close with Brady, Faulk, Troy and the whole Patriots family. This is likely the last chance he's going to get.

And of course I care in that I want to see Falco, Rev. Ray, and Poltard be denied their "destiny."

I don't plan to watch ... unless I look at the score and the 9'ers are up big in the last 20 minutes. Then maybe something interesting would happen - like Ray would go into an antler-hormone induced rage and start stabbing officials.

Re: SuperBowl Week Thread

I just want to see that fat azz Terrell Thuggs on one knee over on the sidelines; while sucking down the oxygen. If the 9ers run that double option with an occasional arch release block by the fullback on the ends, that quarterback will run that slow and tired Raven defense ragged! Maybe Rudolph can trip up CK and Gore using his antlers.

I'd love to see Falco throw 5 INT's and tie Rich Gannon's record. Then watch Ray go deersh!t insane on the sidelines, screaming how Falco is the "tool of the devil."

And it wouldn't be a complete media circus without Ocho. He taped a 1-on-1 interview with Larry King. I only got through about 5 minutes - it's basically a pitch for him wanting to come back next year. He tries to sound like he's grounded and has a plan, but you get the impression that he's utterly lost in a life without the structure of football in it.

Hey..... Ray is not allowed to come out and celebrate by himself... I think some team ruined that for him....LOL..
Do you think they'll surrond him like some sort of pharaoh and come on out with him having his spaz attack in the middle?

It was announced a couple days ago that Brent will be working for NFL Network this weekend covering the game.

Ray needs to enter the field on Santa's sleigh, though those reindeer may be in a bit of a mood.

Re: SuperBowl Week Thread

I actually don't hate the Niners.  They do have a number of players I like, unlike the Ravens who don't have a single player or coach that I can stand.  The only guy in that whole organization I like is Ozzie.   I'd even possibly be able to watch the game and cheer for the Niners if not for that clown they have at QB.  Really can't stand him and I hate even more having to watch QB option plays all day.  It's the thing that keeps me from enjoying college football and now it's in the NFL.  So, go Niners, but I won't be watching.

Re: SuperBowl Week Thread

Just sold my ticket for a very nice profit. There are more Saint fans around here than any other team. When I was here for SB XX it was wicked fun till game time.. The Bear fans were such dinks! lol.
Bear & Pat fans owned the town and even took ovah different sides of the streets.
It's been fun and I got a free vacation from the cold NE.

I'll grab up some souvenirs from the winning team to sell on EBay.
Both fan bases seem very nervous preparing for a loss until the alcohol starts talking.

This is a great place to have a SB!

Ravens fans already burning things in effigy

Mike Libber

Baltimore Ravens fan Mike Libber, burns a San Francisco 49ers flag while partying on Bourbon Street in downtown New Orleans, as revelers gather in the city's French Quarter, Friday, Feb. 1, 2013. The city kicked off NFL football Super Bowl weekend as it awaits for Sunday's game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens at the Superdome. (AP Photo/Julio Cortez)

FIRED UP

A crowd gathered, some 49ers fans booed. Moments later, with a small part of the flag burning, New Orleans police officers arrived and stopped the shenanigans.
He took it out onto Bourbon Street and began to set it on fire. It didn't quickly light up.

Libber eventually scrounged up $60 from his friends and bought the San Francisco flag from a bar manager.

"Yeah, take that away," Libber said. "Otherwise, I'll burn it. In fact, let me burn it."
Libber and his friends filled the long but thin balcony at the Voodoo Vibe bar, and asked bar employees to remove a San Francisco 49ers flag dangling next to a Ravens flag.

That's how Mike Libber of Baltimore showed his loyalty to the Ravens during Friday night festivities on Bourbon Street in New Orleans' French Quarter.

Here's one way to spend your 37th birthday: Flag burning.

Why does this not surprise me. Dude was probably hopped up on Antler Coladas. Almost too bad it wasn't the Giants at the SB, their fans would have stomped this idiot into gravy. I guess NOPD should just be glad there weren't any stabbings in honor of Lewis ... yet.

Watching the Final drive of Super Bowl 36 it makes you realize that BB really hasn't changed. If he didn't go for the win in 36, odds are the Rams would have won in OT. The difference is that they made the clutch plays in that game - and in the other SB wins.

Funny as hell watching it again now - listening to Madden saying they should run the clock and go for OT - meanwhile, the Pats are trying to win the game despite bad field position and no time-outs.

Re: SuperBowl Week Thread

Clutch & luck are needed. Ask the Ravens about the end of that Denver game. Great teams put themselves in position to win, but need time to do it. 1 minute plus helps. Redmond made some huge plays.
Weiss said becareful as Brady headed out onto the field. Bledsoe looked at Brady and said.... "F that just sling it".....lol

BB should play that clip for the team every single week. Including the voice-over of Madden saying he doesn't agree with going for it.

Halftime talk-It`s hilarious listening to that Shannon Sharpe spit fire those marbles out of his mouth at a 100 MPH-Man that dude cannot talk! madNo wonder BB didn`t want to talk to CBS after the game, he might have gotten hit in the eye with a marble
